A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll of Americans who watched President Bush's Iraq speech Tuesday night showed that 46 percent had a "very positive" reaction to what they heard.
The poll was taken immediately after the speech, and the 323 adults interviewed were 50 percent Republican, 23 percent Democratic and 27 percent independent. The margin of error was plus or minus 6 percentage points.
Another 28 percent said they were "somewhat positive" about what they heard, and 26 percent said they had a "negative" reaction.
"It's difficult to tell from these poll results how the speech will affect general U.S. public," said CNN polling director Keating Holland.
"Many Americans did not watch the speech. Those who did were 2-to-1 Republican, so most were arguably already in the president's camp."

Respondents in Tuesday night's poll also were asked three follow-up questions to ones put to them June 24-27.
Bush picked up some apparent support on the question of who is winning the war -- the U.S.-led coalition or the insurgents. Before the speech, 44 percent saw the United States winning; afterward that increased to 54 percent.
The president likewise picked up some support on the question of whether he has a clear plan in Iraq -- going from a 56 percent positive response before the speech to 63 percent afterward.

That's because democrats prefer to stay in the dark so they can continue to shoot off their mouths out of ignorance.

Gee, somehow, that doesn't ring true to me.
It was a CNN poll; Bill Schneider admitted that they had 1000 people they called BEFORE the speech and when they called back AFTER the speech, almost 700 of them did NOT watch the speech, so they couldn't be counted. :-)
Wonder how long they had to "think" before they came up with this article title?
Do you think he could provide the phone records? I'd like to take a look see. ;-)

Why watch? The AP told us what was in the speech five hours ago.
He said it on Aaron Brown's show; but somehow, his figures didn't jive with what Costas had quickly read on the end of his show.
And he NEVER mentioned the NEGATIVE number.
Or the "28 percent somewhat positive!"

COSTAS: We've just received a CNN-"USA Today" flash poll of 323 adult Americans, all of whom watched President Bush's speech tonight. This is significant, and the pollsters have asked us to make note of it. The audience was 50 percent Republican, 23 percent Democratic, 27 percent independent. And the reaction of those 323 adult Americans, very positive reaction to the president's speech tonight -- 46 percent. Somewhat positive, 28 percent. Negative reaction, 24 percent. A flash poll from CNN and "USA Today."
fight_truth_decay just posted this!

FReepmail me if you want to be on or off the list.
Be sure to see #23.
I would like to see
1) how many were registered voters
2) how many were qualified independents and not left-leaning or right-leaning independents
3) the follow-up poll of all of them tomorrow asking them what they thought, again, having slept on it or heard about the speech.

I would urge all of us to remember that the President is student of history. He works very hard to do things that work while avoiding the mistakes of the past.
Long story short, most indies found the speech positive. Mission accomplished.
Thanks ...you both took the time to dig into the poll numbers and helped me understand it...and I'm sure you helped others.
The people have to wait until they are told what to think by Hillary and the New York Times .
This country has been dead for years ,it just doesnt know it yet.
