Predictably, Hollywood has jumped at the chance to assail the Gospels

Channces are they are not "assailing the gospels" but merely cashing in on a HOT, HOT, HOT novel. A novel the American public made a hit!

Why are people so willing to believe anything they read in a Book?

Ha I suppose you mean the Bible? ;)

Depends on the "Book" (Bible)

I really don't get why everyone gets so worked up over a novel. If I was head of the studio I'd green light it no matter what my personal feelings on the subject matter, with all the controversy surrounding it it's bound to make a lot of money. Having Tom Hanks won't hurt either, I think he'll be great for the main character from the book.

My wife's a descendant of the Merovingians. I'm hoping her relatives will help her get me past the Pearly Gates (it's my only hope).

America is about money and capitalism. A blockbuster book or movie is frankly good for my portfolio.

People will gladly believe anything that they think relieves them of accountability to the living God.

I have no problem with anyone relieving those people of their money. It's like plundering the Egyptians. Now how can I get in on it, hmmmmmm...

its distortions about the history of Christianity

We're not real worried. It doesn't seem to be about the history of Christianity at all.

A third of those surveyed who had read the novel believe there are descendants of Jesus who are alive today and that a secret society exists that's dedicated to keeping Jesus' bloodline hush-hush.

Their identities are a well-kept secret...

The "Da Vinci Code" was a rip off from an earlier book "Holy Blood Holy Grail".

I read them both, the latter being better by far.

The "Da Vinci Code" is great, if you are into detective novels.

I paid $35.00 for the Code while it was being hyped everywhere. Not even worth $6.99 paperback cost, IMO.

Great logic there, sherlock.

If what you're saying made any sense, then a movie based on the Gospels---namely, Gibson's Passion of the Christ---would've made the studios kill one another for a chance to 'cash in on it'. Instead, they ran from it like shrieking little girls.

Also, the Bible has far outsold the da binky code by a wide margin. And furthermore, not only did the American public make the Bible such a HOT HOT HOT hit, the global public made it a HOT HOT HOT global hit.

Chances are .. THEY ARE "assailing the Gospels". The liberals never tire of making fun of Christians.

It was revealed tonight on FOX's Big Story that the new "War of the Worlds" has a segment with one of Hollyweird's extreme leftists who spews his stuff.

I wasn't planning on attending this movie .. but now I'm positively not planning on attending this movie.

Hey Watson (to my Sherlock), when there's money in making the Bible into a movie they'll do it.

And then, there are some people who are easily offended.

"Hey Watson (to my Sherlock), when there's money in making the Bible into a movie they'll do it"

That was true in the past. But, not now. A positive depiction of Christianity is pretty much anathema in the movie industry. Otherwise, Mel Gibson would not have had to pay his own way. Due to the monetary success of The Passion, ordinarily there would have been an avalanche of me-too, positive, Christian-themed films as well. There have been none to speak of.

almost 20 percent of the population has read "The Da Vinci Code,"

I would be surprised if 20 percent of the population reads books regularly.

There is.

Several movies based on Jesus were box office hits including the most recent "passion of christ" which, is already among both the highest revenue and highest profitable movies of all time.

No studio is currently even in the planning stages of making a similiar film.

The only flop movie about Jesus in the last 25 years was "The last temptation of christ" which horrified the very the market that would normally have flocked to it.

Even NBCs epics about Jesus and "AD" were highly rated.

Will this horrid book end up being the "Chronicles of the Learned Elders of Zion" of our time?
