Predictably, Hollywood has jumped at the chance to assail the Gospels

Channces are they are not "assailing the gospels" but merely cashing in on a HOT, HOT, HOT novel. A novel the American public made a hit!

My wife's a descendant of the Merovingians. I'm hoping her relatives will help her get me past the Pearly Gates (it's my only hope).

People will gladly believe anything that they think relieves them of accountability to the living God.

I have no problem with anyone relieving those people of their money. It's like plundering the Egyptians. Now how can I get in on it, hmmmmmm...

its distortions about the history of Christianity

We're not real worried. It doesn't seem to be about the history of Christianity at all.

A third of those surveyed who had read the novel believe there are descendants of Jesus who are alive today and that a secret society exists that's dedicated to keeping Jesus' bloodline hush-hush.

Their identities are a well-kept secret...

The "Da Vinci Code" was a rip off from an earlier book "Holy Blood Holy Grail".

I read them both, the latter being better by far.

The "Da Vinci Code" is great, if you are into detective novels.

I paid $35.00 for the Code while it was being hyped everywhere. Not even worth $6.99 paperback cost, IMO.

almost 20 percent of the population has read "The Da Vinci Code,"

I would be surprised if 20 percent of the population reads books regularly.

Will this horrid book end up being the "Chronicles of the Learned Elders of Zion" of our time?
