SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - More than twice as many Californians believe the state is on the wrong track as opposed to headed in the right direction, a new poll found.
According to a Field Poll released Tuesday, 59 percent of Californians surveyed said the state is "seriously off on the wrong track," up from 51 percent in February.
The percentage of people who believed the state was "generally going in the right direction" fell from 40 percent in February to 28 percent.
Republicans were most optimistic with 46 percent believing the state was on the right track, while just 18 percent of Democrats and 21 percent of those unaffiliated or from smaller political parties agreed.
Among those who believed the state is on the wrong track, 28 percent cited Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger as a reason and 23 percent blamed the state's elected officials and legislature.
For those who believe the state is on the right track, 29 percent credited a growing economy, more jobs and improving business climate and 27 percent cited change led by Schwarzenegger.
Over the last 17 years, Californians were most pessimistic in 1992, when only 7 percent believed the state was on the right track, and most optimistic in 2000 when 58 percent believed that to be so.
The survey, conducted over a seven-day period ending June 19, was drawn from interviews with 463 adults. It has a sampling error of 4.5 percentage points.
By a margin of 3 to 1, the rest of America thinks Californians are nuts!
Hey! You should talk! When they lifted up the map, many nuts went to Oregon too.
If you remove illegal immigration as the root cause of many other problems, and the liberal programs that dumb people down, California would still be a nice place to live and work.
When the whiners are out - sludge is being moved around, and cleaned up. --Just IMHO
And Kalifornia was on the right track when?
Amen.
What ain't fruits are nuts. But then, that's part of the Golden State's charm. Ugh.
Well, this is what happens when you elect Dims for decades. It's their own fault. Now they are infecting good red states like Nevada and Idaho, since their own state is ruined, and they're going to do the same thing to us.
Yech...
Okay, that's one way of putting it! =)
Hey Now! lol
