TO: Members of the Assembly and Senate
FROM: Rep. Jeff Wood and Sen. Dave Zien
RE: Property Rights Protection Act
Dear Colleagues,
In response to the heavy-handed ruling by our Federal Supreme Court, Senator Dave Zien and I will be introducing legislation to restore private property rights and prohibit government entities from hiding behind the eminent domain law to confiscate private property for the benefit of corporations and private companies.
We're calling upon any of our colleagues who have an interest in protecting private property rights for the citizens of Wisconsin to join us in drafting this legislation. Please contact Sen. Zien's or my office by email or by phone at 266-1194 if you are interesting in joining our effort.
Sincerely,
Jeff Wood
Now we take the fight to the states.
This is *exactly* what we need to be doing.
FYI
I guessed this would happen in red states.
Actually, it seems to be the one thing that the lefties agree with us on, even if it's for different reasons.
We don't like it because it tramples on private property. They don't like it because it's a giveaway to big business.
For the moment, we are allies. That's how bad this decision was.
Missouri Governor Blunt is doing the same thing. The High court certainly has united the country, eh ?
The same way the Soviets were our allies during WW2.
Exactly. Things at the Supreme Court have to get pretty bad for us to be closer to the lefties than to the decision.
Scary, isn't it?
BTTT!
Just be ready for an equally strong reaction from the League of Cities and various city officials around the country. They'll fight any ED restrictions with TV ads, smear campaigns, etc. It'll get ugly.
This is winnable, but it'll be a heck of a fight.
Just change the title

Instead of callin folks 'lefties' or 'righties' or whatever... try callin everybody 'Americans' ...
Lets see how that works out & take things from there.
Other than that, I completely agree the Supreme Courts have set back the constitution 230 years...
It's true.
Politics make for strange bedfellows, & this proves it.
...beyond a doubt.
True. And we must not allow our distrust of them to thwart an alliance on this issue. We need their help on this.
Then we can go back to fighting them.
