CNN) -- The number of Americans disapproving of President Bush's job performance has risen to the highest level of his presidency, according to the CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Monday.

Didn't we have a President who ran an Administration by the polls??
Likeable? Why? That's WAY down on my list of qualities a leader needs to have to lead well. Not that I actually believe the opinion polls on this one.
Trouble? You mean he may not be able to retire in Jan/09?
There are plenty of things I'm unhappy about but the populartity contest isn't one of them.
Polls failed in 2004...
Disapproval of him here, however, is for considerably different reasons than what will be cited in polls.
Exhibit A: Bush's policy on the border and illegal immigration.
Though come to think of it, that's probably not helping Bush out much in the polls, either.
Right, 30% disapprove because he's too conservative. 30% disapprove because he is not conservative enough. 40% figure he is pretty much doing what is possible under the current political conditions.
When you are in a non-election cycle, the disapproval numbers of a president go up because of the dissatisfaction of people who are actually on his side. If it were an election cycle that segment goes down because of comparison to potential opponents.
CNN can always be counted upon to get out the lies ahead of any Presidential news conference. Strange that they didn't take this poll AFTER the press conference tonight!
That does it !! I'm not voting for W. in the next presidential election .
Looks like the grifter's poll numbers are going up while GW's are going down.
Or could it be that because of this 'buddy buddy' love of Clinton everyone is judging ALL of the Bush family in a different light?
The left never fails to write garbage that always attracts attention. The President is working hard to finish a job with absolutely nothing but negatives from the MSM. He knows pulling out now would simply delete all that has been done so far. America has always and will always be short on patience. It is a virtue for sure to stay the course. I notice this morning the press is saying that GITMO isn't what they have been reporting, and maybe the press needs to improve on how deep they go for the facts...wow, fat chance!! Do you suppose they will send an earstwhile reporter to Iraq to get the facts?? Never happen!!
The old Friday to Sunday interviews just to make sure CNN is more likely to get the negative answers they want.
But barely a third of those polled -- 34 percent -- said the United States is winning the conflict against a persistent insurgency; 14 percent said the insurgents were winning and 50 percent said neither side had the upper hand.
So 84% do not believe the insurgents are winning.
No third term for you!
Very good point.
"Polls failed in 2004..."
I like to think we FReepers had a lot to do with that failure. In the days leading up to the election I voted in favor of John Kerry on nearly every one. I did it along with a large number of FReepers just to show the fallibility of polls. When it came down to the election I voted for Bush in the one poll that really counted.
Right troll, Jimmy Carter was a very likable guy but 1 dumd$hit of a President.
You know what is different from here and your friends over at dumb ass underground? We tolerate dissent and discussion in this forum. Welcome to FR.
