From Part Fourth: Sects in Islam:
We shall end [this part] by summarizing the characteristic features of Mahommedanism [sic] in the words of a distinguished German scholar who thus writes: 'A Prophet without miracles; a faith without mysteries; and a mortality without love; which has encouraged a thirst for blood, and which began and ended in the most unbounded sensuality.'
We most confidently place this book before the sixty millions of Mussulmans [Muslims] who are in India following blindly one who while he proclaimed himself prophet of God, gave not the slightes[t] proof of his divine mission either by the working of miracels or by the sanctity and purity of his life, which was rather a life of the greatest wickedness, of heart-rending cruelty, and of unbounded sensuality. The religion of Mahommed [sic] was founded on human passions; it encourages fatalism, despotism, and sensualism; it reduces humanity into unutterable degradation and it gives no guarantee for the after happiness of one's immortal soul. It is on behalf of these sixty millions of Mussulmans [Muslims] in India that this little book has been compiled, and it is our earnest prayer that at least the well-educated and enlightened Mussulmans [Muslims] may read this book with unbiased and unprejudiced minds.
Thanks- I'd missed this one.
