When people like this make such statements and declare themselves to be Christians, actual Christians wince, and the rest of the world sneers or laughs at the prospect.
Here is the story about the demonstration at the Army Staff Sargeant's funeral
No, not hardly. Not fit to shine that soldier's shoes.
I remember clearly when Phelps and his band of morons in need of heavy medication decided they were going to disrupte Halloween/the Gay Pride parade or whatever in San Francisco. Straights and gays surrounded their hotel rooms and when the Bats in their Belfries Brigade came out to start their protest, they were pelted with eggs and high-volume water guns.
Squealed like stuck pigs and ran back into their rooms and left town.

wackos.
"The group's literature proclaims ``Thank God for IEDs (roadside bombs)'' and states that Piper and other slain soldiers were ``cast into Hell to join other dishonorable Americans.'' "
If IEDs are from God, then they shouldn't object to a few red-blooded Americans setting them off outside their mosque--er, church.
This goes far beyond freedom of speech. It's akin to shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater. I wouldn't mind seeing the church of these protestors burned to the ground--with them in it.
Certainly not Baptists.
Tonight, I will say a special prayer for Phelps.
May he meet a god more forgiving than him...

Please bring your show to East Tennessee. Me and a lot of good old boys have a lesson or several to teach you about respect.
Find I-81 and I-26 and drive to the intersection.
Perhaps the poor mother came up with the best approach. Ignore them and they'll go away. No press, no lawsuits against the townspeople, etc.
Fred Phelps is and Antichrist. His vile, inbred automotans were out in front of a grade school a couple of weeks ago with their "God Hates Fags" and "Thank God for 9/11". Their reasoning is so twisted for these acts that it almost suggests parody. Phelps is a registerred Democrat and a disbarred attorney; if that doesn't scream Moveon.org I don't know what does!
I looked the church up on the internet, and their website address is so inflammatory I can't even repeat it here.
These people can't be for real.
Americans?????
NO WAY!!!!!
Just heard in a chat room this group will be doing the same thing tomorrow (8/28/05) in Martinsville, IN at a soldier's funeral. Don't know how reliable the info is, but the townspeople are said to be angry over it - and "prepared" whatever that means...
