TOM TANCREDO (R-CO) AND HIS STAND AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
6-27-05 | SELF

Posted on 06/27/2005 11:54:28 AM PDT by Jerrybob

OK, I've "done the homework" for y'all and hoping I can get some support for this cause. I saw Tom Tancredo on C-Span a few days ago as he spoke to a women's group in New Hampshire and he "went on record" saying that "Yes, I will run if no one else does" (not a direct quote) should there be no Republican that takes a firm stand on the issue of illegals.

My crusade here, then, is to email him w/words of encouragement (use the form at): http://www.tancredo.org/info/contact.html and THEN send an email or phone or fax (State, Border Governor's Names, info to follow) suggesting they call out their State's National GUARD!! "Guard" --makes sense?

What is the National Guard supposed to do if it's not to protect & defend the border. If the Minute Men can bring illegals to almost zero with a "staff" of grandmothers in lawn chairs armed with field glasses and U.S. flags, it seems The Military in the form of the National Guard can effectively shut down the borders THEN perhaps INS can round up those already here and deport them....

The border states include:

MONTANA: Brian Schweitzer: governor@mt.gov Ph.: 406-444-3111 fax: 406- 444-5529 MAINE: John Baldacci: governor@maine.gov Ph.: 207-287-3531 fax: 207-287- 1034 NEW HAMPSHIRE: Craig Benson cbenson@nh.gov Ph.: 603-271-2121 MINNESOTA: Tim Pawlenty tim.pawlenty@state.mn.us Ph.: 651-296-3391 fax: 651-296-2089 NORTH DAKOTA: John Koeven governor@state.nd.us Ph.: 701-328-2200 fax: 701-328-2205 The States/Governors following; do a Google search State Name governor and use the online fillable email form at each website IDAHO: Dirk Kempthorne Ph.: 208-334-2100 fax: 208-334-2175 CALIFORNIA: Arnold Schwarzennegger Ph.: 916-445-2841 fax: 916-445-4633 ARIZONA: Janet Napolitano Ph.: 602-542-4331 fax: 602-542-1381 NEW MEXICO: Bill Richardson Ph.: none listed at his home page but there is an email form TEXAS: Rick Perry Ph.: 800-252-9600 (for opinion hotline) Ph.: 512-463- 1782 fax: 512-463-1849 ALASKA: Frank Murkowski Ph.: 202-624-5858 fax: 202-624-5857 MICHIGAN: Jennifer Granholm Ph.: 517-373-3400 fax: 517-335-6863 OHIO: Bob Taft Ph.: 614-466-3555 no fax PENNSYLVANIA: Edward Rendell Ph.: 717-787-2500 no fax NEW YORK: George Pataki Ph.: 518-474-8390 no fax VERMONT: Jim Douglas Ph.: 802-828-3333 fax: 802-828-3339 WASHINGTON: Christine Gregoire Ph.: 360-902-4111 fax: 360-753-4110

Thanks for your help; let's FLOOD THESE GOVERNORS W/EMAILS AND PHONE CALLS AND FAXES!

He has all my support. I doubt that he could win due to the democrat (and aparently republican) tactic of calling someone a racist when there's no other argument.

I'll support him if it brings the issue into real debate.

If Tancredo wants to run, he needs to openly start attacking McCain now.

The Democrats, in their death throes, are a dangerous wounded animal.

They will absolutely go for the illegal vote.

Tancredo will at lease get the issue put on the official Republican ballot.

Or a third party will claim the ground of secure borders and we will get a Democrat in the office.

He is going to outflank the Republican party bosses on this one. It is an issue on which the Pubbie powers-that-be have demonstrated incredible inertia, and have demonstrated less empathy for the middle class than Thurston Howell III. They have fed into their own worst caricature, unfortunately.

Did you see a quote in the Dallas paper from a LULAC chaplain from Arkansas?........."Little Rock is the BORDER between Mexico and the U.S.....Not Texas anymore - Arkansas. Texas has been conquered by Hispanics". From the big mouth of Rev. Julio Barquero, LULAC's state chaplain in Ark.

Immigration is a big issue...I think its one of the biggest and the people will vote on it....I am sorry to say they neither party will do much about it...they want votes...The Democratic Iowa Governor just made it legal for Felons to vote...and you know they vote Democrat..they are much more lenient on crime

IMO, illegal immigration is going to sink the republicans in 2006.

Well if the Chaplin says Arkansas is the new border that shows he is a Mexican first and not an American. Screw him.

I would/will vote for Tancredo any time I can. I voted for him twice but could not in 04 because I moved from Colorado. He is a good honorable man. There are damn few of them left in politics.

I agree.....I just wanted folks to see the extreme arrogance by these reconquistas. Found it interesting a fish wrap like the Dallas Morning Mexican News would print such a comment.

Tom Tancrdo is the real deal - I hope he runs; the GOP and RINOs wont even discuss this issue - I believe that this is why Bushs poll numbers are falling - he is an elitist and doesnt listen to the public - hard lesson to learn but it will end up causing him a lasting legacy just like his dad.

If el presidente continues to ignore the immigration issue, spend wildly, and is still stuck to the Iraq tarbaby near the end of his term, it will be tough for a republican to win in '08.

Tancredo BUMP.

Mr. Dean, please keep criticizing Cong. Tancredo by name. He could not ask for better publicity than criticism of him by you.

I hope Cong. Tancredo will be invited by the televsion media to debate Sen. McCain with regard to the McCain-Kennedy amnesty for illegal aliens bill.
