Ah, there's the trick. They (Souter, Stevens, Ginsburg, Breyer and O'Connor) distinguished between the "neutral display" like the one in their building and the promotion of religion like the framed copies of the Commandments in Tennessee.

O'Connor is a traitor to the great man who appointed her.

It's a shameful day, a shameful decision, a decision that mocks Truth with a capital T.

The Nazgul who voted that the 10 Commandments cannot be displayed because it's an endorsement (or whatever their foul words were) of religion, are thereby endorsing atheism.

If (some) people think that words and actions have no reaction, they're in for a verrrry bumpy ride. It's calling reaping what you sow - karma - the natural law that God has created. Everything we do and say will have some kind of reaction, sooner or later. There is no way we can avoid it. The laws of man are often unjust or unjustly applied; criminals "get away with it" all the time, and sometimes the innocent are punished.

But the laws of the universe that God has created are irreversible, inescapable, and always just. You and I may not see the result; that's ok. Perfect justice will happen. And it is all for our benefit; He wants us to become enlightened to the truth that He is the merciful and all powerful master, and we are (so many have forgotten) the loving servants.

So now the SCOTUS has said that having the basic rules given to mankind are VERBOTEN if it seems as though they are displayed in a serious manner. But it is just fine to put condoms on cucumbers in schools (also government facilities) and teach kids about every perverted method of sexual gratification.

The basic laws so that humans can be human are essentially the same in every monotheist religion. They are not sectarian. They are the foundation of all civilizations that rise above bestiality. They were given to mankind for our benefit. To reject them is to reject the good God Who gave them to us.

(Freepmail me if you want on/off the Moral Absolutes pinglist.

Well, since you took care of the political angle, I'll return to the religious aspect....lest we lose sight of the fact that our Heavenly Father told us there'd be days like this.

You are right so we really shouldn't be surprised. However, it is still very troubling.

RONALD REAGAN:
“Our Nation’s motto – ‘In God We Trust’ - was not chosen lightly. It reflects a basic recognition that there is a divine authority in the universe to which this nation owes homage.” MARCH 19, 1981, NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER PROCLAMATION
“We can’t have it both ways. We can’t expect God to protect us in a crisis and just leave Him over there on the shelf in our day-to-day living. I wonder if sometimes He isn’t waiting for us to wake up, He isn’t maybe running out of patience.” SEPTEMBER 9, 1982, AT THE ALFRED M. LANDON LECTURE SERIES ON PUBLIC ISSUES:

“I’ve always believed that we were, each of us, put here for a reason, that there is a plan, somehow a divine plan for all of us. I know now that whatever days are left to me belong to Him.” FEBRUARY 4, 1982, AT THE ANNUAL NATIONAL PRAYER BREAKFAST:

“To those who cite the First Amendment as reason for excluding God from more and more of our institutions and every-day life, may I just say: The First Amendment of the Constitution was not written to protect the people of this country from religious values; it was written to protect religious values from government tyranny.” MARCH 15, 1982, ADDRESS TO THE ALABAMA STATE LEGISLATURE:

"There are certain conditions in which 10 Commandment displays would not be entirely appropriate in my opinion."

I agree, the ten commandments have little to fo with US Law - In fact only 2(murder, stealing ) are codified as being agianst the law (bearing false witness or lying are only sometimes against the law such as perjury or fraud.) Breaking the others are not only not against the law but are in fact protected under the law in many cases.

Have We the People have become so powerless that we are now at the mercy of 5 individuals?

They are really sticking it to us!

Years and years and years right down the toilet. :(

The deal is consistent with the wave of anti-semitism making it's way through leftwing circles.

These two decisions dictate that Judaism (the very fundamentals of the Law of Moses) must be left outside on the lawn of the courthouse and not allowed inside.

Next will be a ruling that Jews themselves must stay out of the courts.

This is roughly the path followed in the development of anti-semitism in Deutschland in the 1930s.

Interesting that the process now has the full support of Ginsburg.

SCOTUS will be the main reason for the upcoming resurgence of the militia movement.

No, any resurgence of the militia movement will be created by the insecurities of those loonies with big guns, small brains and even smaller penises.

There are 25 Flag holidays. Christmas & Easter are the only religous days. ACLU will probably be going after them soon.

SCOTUS is moving us closer to a watershed event..at some point the people who hold, religion as a vital part of all our lives and who understand private ownership and what free political speech means, are going to have to make a decision to ACT..I fear the next president will be another Lincoln presiding over the second civil war..which will start with withhold of our tax dollars to stop support of this oppressive - radical - atheist socialist -federal government. After which continued confiscation of private property will lead to violent showdowns..the elite have lost any sense of restraint on the agenda they are forcing here..Minutemen arise the times are dire and good men must hear the call lest all of us become slaves. (these words are not easy to post may I be proved wrong and balance is restored to our land.)

Kennedy and O'Connor flipped on this one. Seems they take trade off the sanity pills before each ruling.

Outrageous!!

The words "be damned" come to mind.

Why would A copy of the ten Commandments hanging on a wall bother anyone?

They so very graciously (sarcasm) allowed the ten Commandments on granite outside the building here in Texas.

This group ALL need to retire, today would be FINE!!

Dean Said U.S. Is “A Sectarian Country.” “In general, I agree with the ACLU about not putting religious plaques in public spaces. The Ten Commandments shouldn’t be in a public park. We’re a sectarian country. The state should not be in the business of advocating for a certain religion.” (“The McCain Of Vermont,” Arizona Republic, 8/17/03)

Nevermind that a Ten Commandments display exists within the Supreme Court building. More judicial tyranny from left-wing activists judges.

The Republicans ARE going to fix the judiciary and nominate justices like Anton Scalia if they want to remain the majority party. The Alberto Gonzales of the world won't cut it. Failure to fix the judiciary and appoint "strict Constitutionalists" will produce catastrophic consquences for the GOP, worse than when George HW Bush raised taxes.

That's right, the only reason that we are a country is because of the fact that we AGREE to be governed by common laws.

It seems that this agreement is becoming precarious at best; with the will of the people being disregarded by the agenda of the few.

I can't in any way foretell the future, but I can read about the past...

No, but apparently you do, given your expertise on the militia movement. Tell me, why is it Christian to go out and shoot or bomb people because they say you cant promote one religion over another? Sane minds would like to know.
