The way posters around here toss out the word "lawsuit" like it's some kind of expletive makes me want to wretch. I wish you could all be required to walk a mile in my shoes . . .
I am a parent. I WAS a parent to a 16 year old son who was killed as a result of the negligent actions of others. My wife and I cannot even get an acknowledgment of wrongdoing by any of the responsible parties; to everyone involved, we simply do not exist. The prevailing school of thought is if we are ignored long enough, we will go away.
Well, we're not going away. Just as I defended my little boy against the bullies on the school bus when he was too small to defend himself, I'm defending him now because he's dead and cannot defend himself. The lawsuit (the dreaded "L" word) is the only legal means left to us as parents; the only recourse left at our disposal to bring the responsible parties to their day of reckoning.
Welcome to America, where justice is meted out to the highest bidder and the ones with the craftiest barristers prevail, while the others are left holding their sacs. It is a hateful place where hearts are torn apart while chattering tongues are on constant lookout for a way to paint others in an unfavorable light.
