Ridiculous result, but fun none the less.
Typical dem process. Just didn't go their way this time!
GREAT~! GOD LOVE YOU RONNIE~!
Winston Churchill won in the UK.
I tend to agree, President Reagan was the best for everyone in society.
So sad that any of those should be in the top 10. Personally, I can't decide between Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin.
I cant wait to see what the DUmmies have to say about this!
Nothing against the Gipper...but I thought George shoulda won.
Shows the state of American education. George Washingotn was in a class of his own. Ronaldus Maximus is right up there, though, after Lincoln perhaps.
You can make a strong case for those two indeed. Eisenhower also should have been in the top 10, IMO.
Washington and Jefferson are no brainer top 5 easy.
Ditto. Without Washinton, Reagan would have been a British subject.
Maybe a matter of which side of the ocean you're on but it sounds like Reagan not only was "nominated" but he also won the contest.
Another clue as to how this will spin...
"President George Washington was voted the fourth most popular American with 17.7 percent of the nominations. Ben Franklin came in fifth with 14.9 percent of the votes."
"Most popular" or "Greatest American"? Well, which is it? Look for these subtle changes coming soon to the Today Show script.
I'm willing to bet that many of the people voting didn't have a clue as to who Washington, Franklin, and Jefferson were though.
Actually Eisenhower was known as a do nothing president.
Spent inordinate amount of time on the golf course and let America recover from the war with little or no interference from the government.
Which was a good thing! But them's the facts.
Somehow I think the Gipper would have agreed with you.
Those are the best kind of Presidents.
I was thinking more about what Ike did before he became president...perhaps the memory of the voters were still focused on his presidency.
considering that Jimmy Carter was around 25th in this I would say you are right.
