Excerpt -
The Bush administration is planning new measures that would target the U.S. assets of anyone conducting business with a handful of Iranian, North Korean and Syrian companies believed by Washington to be involved in weapons programs, U.S. officials said yesterday. The latest action is outlined in a draft executive order administration officials are hoping President Bush will sign before attending the Group of Eight summit in Scotland on July 2. Officials who agreed to discuss the details only on the condition of anonymity said the order's success would rely heavily on U.S. intelligence and that it is modeled in part on measures the government took against al Qaeda's finances shortly after the terrorist strikes of Sept. 11, 2001.

This is good. Stopping the proliferation of nuclear weapons should be our #1 top priority, in my opinion.

According to an internal government memo, it would provide a new tool in the efforts to stop trafficking in weapons of mass destruction "by authorizing the blocking or 'freezing' of assets of WMD proliferators and their supporters, and thereby prohibiting U.S. persons from engaging in transactions with them."
And this took 4 years?

Some folks are a little slow out of the gate.
We apparently are destined for a few more 9-11 events before we wake up and force our leadership to get them to shift gears a little faster... sad to say.

Let them rant, This is a good thing. A Naval blockade of these countries should be the next step. The spread of these kinds of technology and weapons pose an extremely serious threat. A single Nuke exploding in one of our major cities would cripple our economy as well as the entire world's economy.

The key word is "Suspect", before it was "Those who are known to be"
My bet is that the word "Suspect" will be challenged by the RATS in Congress. They will cry that "Firms" should not have their assets frozen just because they are "Suspected" of supporting Terrorists.
Keep in mind that the Liberals are taking this administration to court in order to see to it that the Terrorists at GITMO are afforded the same rights you and I enjoy

WHAT a bunch of crap. Didn't we just finish attacking the liberals for fighting our enemies with lawyers. We should be bombing Syria not trying to arrest Americans who do business with them.
