"Really? Man. If I were in the audience I wouldn't have booed Clinton, though I would LIKE to, because, well, it's childish. But then, so was this whole contest.

Why do I have a feeling we won't see much coverage of this now that RWR has been picked for the #1 spot?"

Reagan winning ruined their day. Once again. LOL

Watching the expressions of pain and disgust on the faces of the MSM chowderheads as they watched our outpouring of respect was gratifying as well.

I was great wasn't it?

Last time I cried is when I witnessed that event. Time before that was when my brother died in 88.

During 911 I was too angry to cry.

"Republicans take top 2 spots Reagan #1, Lincoln #2.... :D"

Makes sense. #2 freed the slaves and #1 freed the SLAVS...

Amen to that. Lincoln got us through the civil war, put race and sex behind us as impediments to true liberty, and technically, since he was born after America was founded, surpasses Washington, who really did most of his works before America existed, as did Franklin. the question should have been "Who meant the most to America". Without Lincoln there would still be America.....and the Confederacy. No contest.

Abraham Lincoln?

Tell me this. Where in the US Constitution does it say a State cannot leave? How Constitutional was the War between the States?

I live ten minutes from Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania and I often take my family up there to see the re-enactment that is staged around New Year's Day every year. There's a park there and plenty of information about Washington available.

I agree that it is a shame that Washington and many other founders are given short shrift today, mainly due to political correctness and liberal revisionism in the government schools where (nice, I'm sure) people like Harriet Tubman are placed on an equal footing with the great men who founded this nation.

When I said that Washington was #1 "hands down", I meant it. ANYBODY who studies the man and his accomplishments for even a couple of hours will agree. Unfortunately, he's now just that guy on the dollar bill thanks to the perverted and incompetent government schools.

Regards,
LH

Saving the union was saving the constitution. If states had the right to secede the individual freedom promised and practiced in America would have been destroyed by 50 little kingdoms like Europe was and is today. The fact that some of us are still sulking about it but remain in the union is the genius of America. We owe this to Honest ABE. He also gave his life for this principle, sacrificed as a direct result of his preserving America.

The amazing thing to me is that 4 of the 5 finalists were men that FReepers could vote for. Considering that the DUmmies hate Ronaldus Magnus, think that Washington was an evil slave holder, teach that Lincoln held evil thoughts towards blacks and probably have no clue the enormous contributions that Franklin made to the founding founders, I thought that MLK might sneak in and win.
Personally, I voted twice for Washington and one for President Reagan, but any one of the top 5 but King were great men, and I could see how some americans would view King as great. Compare this to Britain where a women who was a tabloid story almost beat out Churchill.

George Washington should have been #1, followed by Lincoln and Reagan. MLK should not have been in the top 5.

That Clinton is so high on the list makes me discount the whole thing.

The same could be said for George W. Bush, who does not deserve to be in the top ten either. Reagan over Lincoln? MLK over Washington? Americans are a stupid lot, with no historial sense whatsoever.
