Well, ok - but so what?
I remember Bill Press as a leftist California sleaze. That alone goes a long way to explain why nobody bothers about him or his loony opinions.

I've always found Press to be a smarmy little turd....someone whom I would genuinely enjoy smacking.

For those Freepers outside the DC area, WMAL is a local AM radio station that carries the likes of Rush, Hannity, et. al. Recently, they tried to add some Libs to the mix - and it was a total flop. No need for a ZOT on this thread - just a better explaination of the poster's point of view...

Bill Press had a problem: Outside of being a liberal, he had no sense of humor. "Dork" is the work that comes to mind.
After many years, never listened to WMAL in the AM when Press was on. He couldn't go light on sports, or local. It was always national politics. Imus (on a good day) was better. What more needs be said.

Tom,
When a radio host has a talk show he has to be able to articulate his point using good facts and logic. If he lacks this, then his numbers will tank plain and simple. Let me give you an example. Neal Boortz www.boortz.com is a Libertarian, but very credible. He can articulate his point well, and keeps audience thinking. This is why I believe his show continues to grow. I guess it helps that he was a practicing Attorney at one point too? Nevertheless, Neal uses facts and logic to make his points.

When Bill Press was on WMAL, he was not at all entertaining. He was a mouthpiece for the way left liberal nutcases; always defending the indefensible behavior of liberals. He had no sense of humor, was totally unable to laugh at himself or other liberals who said and did stupid things.
I turned my radio off of WMAL shortly after Press got the job - and listened instead to CSPAN Radio.
I was thrilled to hear the news when the fool left WMAL.
Fred Grandy is a pretty good guy. He and Andy Parks work well together, and have good senses of humor.
I love Michael Graham's show, but don't often get to listen to him. Rush is the best, of course. Hannity is OK, but I prefer Michael Graham. Chris Core is OK, too; but I'd rather listen to Michael Graham on my drive home. Chris whines and wrings his hands a little too much for my liking.
And if WMAL would get Laura Ingraham's show (and drop Chris Core) I'd be happy as can be with the Andy/Grandy Show, Ingraham, Rush, Hannity (so-so) and Graham as their daily lineup.
You can keep Bill Press.
Put him on Air America, or whatever that sorry lefty/liberal radio network is called.
Just one (Takoma Park, MD Native) gal's opinion.
