~ The Canteen Music Dedication ~ (Saturday Night Jukebox) Welcome to all of our Troops, Veterans, and their families!! The Canteen Music Dedication has always been and will continue to be for you!! Thank you for joining us each week!! |
Canteen Music Dedication FYIEnjoying the Canteen Music Dedication is relatively easy! 1. If you enjoy an eclectic range of music, then you've found your place.
2. All music will be removed on Monday. So? Enjoy the music while you can.
3. You can make requests via email at musicrequests@canteenusa.com , posting it on the thread or FReepmail us. If you are a FReeper, please avoid emailing us with your requests. You can use the latter two for that.
4. We are not a downloading site. This isn't an MP3 search engine site. If you are from one of those places, please understand that we will do everything in our power to stop you from downloading our music. If you want the music bad enough, please consider purchasing the music either online or offline. We will block and ban you from our network if we catch you downloading. This is for mostly outside of Free Republic.
5. Hotlinking is not tolerated. Don't do it. We have granted permission to one other site. The site is run by a Navy Veteran and understands the music is only up for a few days.
6. The Canteen Deejays post music daily. If you don't catch something on Saturday's thread, scroll through the threads!
7. No music requests via email will be taken for this week's thread after Wednesday at Noon of each week. We will try to get to the music requests. However, we receive anywhere between 75-250 requests a weekend. We just don't have the time sometimes.
8. This music dedication has always been about our Troops, Veterans, their families, and the Canteen. Please respect that. Don't steal bandwidth and take away their enjoyment.
9. If you would like to be added/removed from the Canteen Music Ping list, please FReepmail MoJo2001 or Kathy In Alaska. We'll be happy to honor any request. 10. If you have any questions about the music dedication, please FReepmail MoJo2001. Thank you!! 10. Red colored boxes --> Warning! The music is not for children or Ma! Green colored boxes --> requests via email Purple colored boxes --> songs we think you might enjoy! Enjoy The Music!! |
~ Volume I ~ Red colored boxes are warnings that the music is unsuitable for kids or Ma! Green colored boxes indicate music requests via email! Purple colored boxes indicates music we think you'll enjoy!
~ Volume II ~
~ Volume III ~ *This week we received over 360 music requests! Thank you!
~ Volume IV ~ Where is my song? Don't see it? Request it!

HANKIE ALERT!!Commentary: Support for the Troops Never Stronger
By Capt. Steve Alvarez, USA
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, June 24, 2005 When I came home from Iraq a couple of months ago, I kept the promise I made while I was still there: I wouldn't watch the news, and I'd step away from the war, ignoring the events that had consumed my life 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It was time to catch up with my family and make them the focus of my life 24/7. For about a month I was able to successfully ignore the constant horrid imagery and sensational reports filed from Iraq. But as a public affairs officer and self-proclaimed news junkie, I soon found myself scanning headlines on the Web and tuning into radio news programs, instead of my favorite jazz station.
I don't think the charred skeletal remains of a vehicle-borne explosive device are the watermark of this war. The images I see back here are not the same indelible images I saw in Iraq - those of a resilient country making its way back from decades of oppression - helped by the many friendly nations that liberated them.
But now I'm on the sidelines, and instead of feeling and hearing the car bomb explode and seeing its eerie black plume of smoke rise nearby, I read about it. And rather than witness history as I did for a year, I find myself writing my comrades to get accurate accounts of what is happening in Iraq.
What I saw in Iraq was the boundless bravery of a seemingly endless line of Iraqi recruits gathered to join the Iraqi army, the smiles and waves of Iraqis as we convoyed through the city of Sulaymaniyah, the first flight of the Iraqi air force, and the sound of Iraqi tank guns as they thundered for the first time in years in support of liberty, not tyranny.
The rest of the story

Broke camp at 2pm.
All scouts accounted for; parents too.
1. The NRA folks running the BB range
2. Border Patrol came and did fingerprinting of all 112 boys
3. Learned that one of the Cubs is from France (his dad is the French Military Liaison)
4. Confirmed that we have several youth from Nogales
5. Kids had A LOT OF FUN!
6. OA has the model camp site up and ready
7. Had Scouts from Nogales AZ
8. Had a DUNK Tank provided by the police and fire department DARE Program and a Fire Truck (Pumper came out to fill it) and it Was DUNK THE LEADER time
9. Had Archery with help from the local Archery Club
10. Made BUG Cathers and let them catch grasshoppers
11. Success level was high. How do we know? The adults were tired and the kids were absolutely covered in dirt from head to toe.
Those are the highlights. Everyone loved it.

Wonderful link to the Maine troop greeters. I surfed the site & my screen went blurry. I sent them an email telling them how wonderful they are. People like that can make such a memory for a lifetime.

That would work and wouldn't take so much time to write--did I say that I'm also lazy?--which is maybe what causes my hiccups. I just lay my finger on post and don't have the energy to move! LOL!....should it be FReepese? It'd drive spell-check nuts! LOL!
