'Worlds' star: 'You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do' NEW YORK (AP) -- Let the cynics talk. Tom Cruise is in love -- and he just can't restrain himself.
"You know what? There's always cynics. There always has been. There always will be," said Cruise, who hasn't been shy about displaying his affection for "Batman Begins" actress Katie Holmes. "I have never worried ... about what other people think and what other people say."
Cruise, 42, and Holmes, 26, went public with their romance in April, smooching and posing for photographers in Rome. They recently became engaged.
Many have doubted the romance -- the words "publicity stunt" have rained down on the couple as Cruise has promoted his new film, "War of the Worlds," directed by Steven Spielberg, which opens on June 29.

Oh God No! but I do beleive many meds are unecessary that is not a Scientologists view although Tom is trying to make it one!
Maybe she's in Mid Life Crisis,or she's infatuated with Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher! LOL...
I respectfully disagree.
I am from an era where we did not feel it is necessary to drug children to keep them in line.
You're right. Scientology isn't a religion...it's a cult. Have you ever heard of Lisa McPherson?

The key phrase is PERFORMED PROPERLY.
Sometimes, drugs are necessary, but no one said drugging kids to keep them in line is needed or good.
So then why do Kids need drugs?
If the child is misbehaving due to poor upbring, I don't see the need for medication too. I do see the need for counseling for the child and the parents by counselors and, yes, even psychiatrists
Yes but just a little joke.
OOOOOOOOHHH!!! BUUUUURN!!!!!!!! (/That 70's Show)
So what do you consider it takes to "PERFORM PROPERLY"?
Do you need to drug 100%, 80%, 50%, of our children?
Please, I want to know.
I am from an era when our government did not feel it was "PROPER" to drug any of it students.
It is far worse.
Oh, yes, there was some knowledge there, but the outcome here is just wrong. You see, we were all young women together, and we all had comparable problems. Some of us sorted through them and eventually came out in a better place, but those two friends have just gone into a holding pattern. It's not good, and nothing will convince me that the drugs have done them any good at all.
You have made your agenda quite clear.
< On the topic of Germany and Scientology: I refuse to sit here, silently while the great German nation and it's people are being accused of intolerance, arrest and incarceration of an individual simply because of his or her religious background. >
Do a google search. Their banishment of scientology is one thing I can admire Germany for.
"...performed properly."
I would say make proper diagnosis and provide treatment, including medication if indicated, based on proper medical scientific evidence.
BTW, do you know anyone who want to "drug" even 50% of our children?
Fine. Ruin that great visual image.
Cruise can afford her. You're just jealous.
I saw the show today, and Tom Cruise showed no manners or charm. It's a mystery how he got to be such a big star.
Tom & Katie were kissing on the red carpet the other day. She must be tall. She had to bend far over to kiss him.
Yes, because I've heard so many disquiting things about Scientology, and I feel that people are getting into it without bothering to take a look at other viewpoints or to really think about it and ask themselves if adopting Scientology is truly a good idea.
