"This is what happens when liberals rule on your constitutional rights. To them, the document has no inherent meaning - it means whatever they want it to mean. Last year it was our First Amnendment free speech that was attacked and stripped by this leftist gang of black robes.

This year it's our Fifth Amendment Property Rights that was decimated by this abhorrent freedom sucking gang of black robes.

What's next...second amendment???

Is it any wonder these black robed theives plot to destroy our Great and Glorious Constitution?

Heck, the bastard terrorist scum at least have a right to pray and possess their religious book...we Americans are forced to settle for a Constitution that has been tortured and abused by these elitist wealthy non-elected self-annoited monarchs that are paid by the very people that they are stealing our God given rights.

Perhaps, Ruth Nazi Ginsbergs home should be first on the list of confiscated homes for the public good. I wonder how she'd like that.

If the president is going to promote an "ownership society," he's going to have to overturn this ruling. If the Republicans are smart, they'll campaign in 2006 for a Constitutional Amendment clarifying the point that this type of action is wrong.

I wonder how many Freepers are going to support this ruling. I can think of several who I can imagine coming up with justifications for this type of action.

Twice I tried forming a coherent letter to my US Representative (Curt Weldon, PA-7), but I'm so angry that I just can't seem to write anything that's both polite and gets the message across. Saying I'm "outraged", "incensed", or "furious" doesn't scratch the surface. How does one tell one's representative that one now considers the people in power in this country on a par with blood enemies? How do you tell your congressman that they are threatening one of the very few things in life actually worth losing one's life over? How do you tell him that his silence on the issue hints at quiet support, and expect him to actually read the thing?

In the end I didn't write anything. Congress has been utterly silent on the issue. I think they don't give a rat's behind about anything but keeping their backsides planted in the same cushy chairs. If there was a Libertarian candidate in my district who would propose an amendment to the US Constitution to correct this, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.

I think the homes of the supremes who voted for this would make great trailer park locations that would bring more revenue into their respective cities.

Armed federal agents should toss those robed tyrants onto the the curb so construction can begin.

I think they would be more than disheartened. These judges wouldn't be able to sleep at night fearing horses and torches weren't far off and heading their way.

Hmmm, I wonder what this means?

(Founders would be disheartened, if they knew!)

What would dishearten the founders is the singular fact we haven't started organizing to march on Washington to reestablish the Constitution by any means necessary.

Of course, they would have lost heart over so many different things we accept as 'de rigueur' by now that this wouldn't surprise them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When asked what kind of a government the delegates had given us at the constitutional convention of 1787, Benjamin Franklin replied "A republic...if you can keep it."

I have to wonder if we disappointed the old man or if he knew the outcome in advance?

The next time someone says that the Constitution is a "living document," ask them if the Constitution is a legal document." If they answer yes, next ask them if they would be willing to sign a legal document, for say the title to land, that is also a "living document." Ask them if they would be willing to sign a legal document that will change over time.

The fact of the matter is that when something in the Constitution needs to be changed, the Constitution itself sets for the procedure to do so.

As you quoted, doing anything else, makes the Constitution a "meaningless document."

From "The Anti-Federalist Papers" , Brutus #11, 31 January 1788.

...This government is a complete system, not only for making, but for executing laws. And the courts of law, which will be constituted by it, are not only to decide upon the constitution and the laws made in pursuance it, but by officers subordinate to them to execute all their decisions. The real effect of this system of government, will therefor be brought home to the feelings of the people, through the medium of the judicial power. It is, moreover, of great importance, to examine with care the nature and extent of the judicial power, because those who are to be vested with it, are to be placed in a situation altogether unprecedented in a free country. They are to be totally independent, both of the people and the legislature, both with respect to their offices and their salaries. No errors they may commit can be corrected by any power above them, if any such power there be, nor can they be removed from office for making ever so many erroneous adjudications.

The only causes for which they can be displaced is, conviction of treason, bribery, and high crimes and misdemeanors.

This part of the plan is so modeled, as to authorize the courts, not only to carry into execution the powers expressly given, but where these are wanting or ambiguously expressed, to supply what is wanting by their own decisions.

Telling truths like these were just as dangerous then as they are now. It is no wonder he used a pen-name. The Anti-Federalist Papers gave us warnings to many of the Constitutional problems we now face.

This is what happens when liberals rule on your constitutional rights.

You know, the politics is an interesting thing. I do read a couple of sites that tend to the left wing, not for the philosophy or ideology (which I don't usually agree with), but for the financial analysis they happen to provide. Some of the most rabidly left wing people (by their own admission) on those sites (Bush haters included) are angry about this decision to every bit the extent that most people here are. Their language tends to be more colorful and explicit as usually is the case. I think this will go down as one of the most unpopular USSC decisions with the people of all time!

A disgusting ruling by an arrogant court.

Check out this petition site:

http://www.petitiononline.com/5amend/petition-sign.html

An email correspondent's comment:

"FOLKS: This past week, SCOTUS (Supreme Court OF The United States) once again, has attempted to rewrite OUR Constitution to totally change the original intent as written by the Founders.

Eminent Domain was NEVER intended to be used by government EXCEPT to obtain property for roads, public buildings, schools, military bases and other necessary government usage.

This past week, the Supreme Court rewrote the Constitution, stating that it was legal for cities to condemn private property under Eminent Domain, to purchase and then resell to developers and other special interests, supposedly to benefit the community and the city by increasing tax revenues.

THIS IS TOTALLY BOGUS!

Please click on the link below and add your signature to the petition for a Constitutional Amendment to put a stop to this invitation to even more corruption within government and the theft of private homes and property for the financial benefit of a few.
