DESCO used all available means to acquire the property through negotiations, said Steve Houston, a DESCO spokesman. "The city was left with condemnation as their last resort," he said. Now, it becomes their FIRST option. Take it or leave now becomes take it or WE take it from you.

May as well order up a U-Haul and hand over the keys, June. Quite right.
And if you annoy the developers enough, they may get the Supreme Court to decide to give them your property gratis, just for standing in the way of progress.

From the article:
The definition of blight in Missouri has become so qualified that it can be changed to mean condemnation authority can be used for economic activity, Wolff said. "We assert that's unconstitutional," he said.
The house in question isn't blighted so the definition has been twisted to mean the area is "economically blighted."

Thank you....it's started. Let's try and keep track of cases up to hear in the courts especially between now and when Congress reconvenes from their tax-paid summer break that includes automatic salary increases that are automatic now., etc.,etc., etc.,.It is going to be interesting to see just how many people get screwed.
