President Bush will deliver a major address to U.S. troops and the nation about Iraq on Tuesday night from the U.S. military base at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the White House said.
"This is a critical moment in Iraq," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said on Friday in announcing the speech. "This is a real time of testing."
McClellan said the speech would be delivered at 8 p.m., and that the White House has asked U.S. television networks to air the address live.
Bush is expected to use the prime time speech to outline his strategy in Iraq amid increasing public doubts about the war.
McClellan said Bush will be "very specific about the way forward in Iraq."...

Who said he was coming out swinging?? Now when I hear that the Syrians, Iranians & Saudis are heading for the fall out shelters, then I'll know Bush is coming out swinging.

A good friend of mine salt of the Earth veteran of the Cold War (tanks in Europe), Kosovo (administered an economic region there) and the first Gulf War (debriefed captured prisoners) has been called up and sent to Bragg to get ready for duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. He'll be there just in time for the President's address. I can only imagine the lump in the throat and swelling heart of this great American as he leaves his family once again to do his duty and is sent off with an address by the Commander in Chief.
This country needs to get behind these troops and bury all thoughts of cutting, running or anything of the sort.

Iraq, Iraq, Iraq. Is that all Bush has to offer? Jesus H. Christ, we just have a MAJOR ruling by the Black Robed Kings throwing out the protection of private property and ignopring the 5th amendment of the Constitution and Bush hasn't said a peep. Just like his daddy; all foreign interest, nothing domestic.

They are making great progress with head injuries now.

I just want the President to not only be specific about Iraq's progress, the enemey faced there, but the enemy faced here. Will be looking forward to this speech.
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
He is being baited into this speech by the liberal propaganda machine.
Their defamation campaign is in full swing.
They will use this speech to mock him, our soldiers, their leaders, and our war effort, before and after the speech.
Then they will poll liberals and "moderates" to say the speech did not work. (just like SS)
(if the liberal media really thought the American people need more info on Iraq, then they would have been showing the daily presser from Iraq and the Pent, consistently)
To: roses of sharon
Right...and as long as we know the intentions of the left wing media, we can ignore their slander.
It will be good to hear the POTUS Speak.

Could be the other way around. The press loves to ignore the President and would take every chance not to cover a speech.
Now, with the Dems ranting about Iraq, Bush sets up a speech and, you bet, the press is going to cover it, not for Bush but to promote the claim by the dems that Americans are turning against the war.
He will show exactly why he is the president and they are merely wannabees who cannot understand the concept of protecting America instead of trashing America.

About time.
It also shows the WH is concerned, which makes me a bit uneasy.
