Democrats Demand Retraction From Rove

Democrats are demanding that White House adviser Karl Rove immediately retract and apologize for comments that liberals responded to the Sept. 11 terrorist strikes by wanting to ``prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.''

``The one thing New York has had since Sept. 11 is unity,'' said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. ``To inject politics into this and to defame a large number of people'' is outrageous, he said. ``It's not what New York and America is all about.''

Rove, Bush's chief political adviser, said in a speech Wednesday that ``liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.'' Conservatives, he said in the speech to the New York state Conservative Party just a few miles north of Ground Zero, ``saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war.''

Rove said the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for ``moderation and restraint'' after the terrorist attacks.

Schumer said Democrats were drafting a letter asking Rove to retract his remarks. Jim Manley, spokesman for Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., also called on President Bush to ``immediately repudiate Karl Rove's offensive and outrageous comments.''

Rove also denounced Sen. Dick Durbin's comments comparing interrogation at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp to the methods of Nazis and other repressive regimes. He said the statements have been broadcast throughout the Middle East, putting U.S. troops in greater danger. The Illinois Democrat has since apologized for the remarks.

``No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals,'' Rove said.

"This captures the essence of the two positions. There is no other quote in politics that so clearly describes the difference in how the two sides think .... and the damned liberals are embarrassed about it. "

It also captures the unvarnished truth of the situation, which is REALLY causing their panties to get all twisted up, and all of the SCREECHING reaction to the statement.

One thing that George W. Bush does really well is articulate the differences between him and his opponents. He has softened up a little bit in his second term.
Bush has been playing pretty nice on social security and others. I think it's time that he upped the ante. Hopefully this statement by Rove is evidence that the White House plans on sticking to its opponents.

I, too, am late to this thread. Sorry!!

The Dems have no strategy except blame, run and hide, blame, run and hide. Rove's comments are accurate. The hand-holding-counselling for the enemy is what liberals see as 'enlightened'. The Democrat Party stands for nothing but weak-knee'd responses that stroke their oh-so-evolved notion that there is no such thing as evil in this world. Evil exists.

Interesting article. I thought that the Democrats had decided that Treason is free speech. Republicans seem to agree as they just get red in the face, stamp their feet and don't do anything about it.

Jeez it's too early in the morning to be this cynical.

Someone posted Schumer's # earlier in this thread. We all know Schumer thinks Durbin-laden bent over backwards with his so-called apology, for what the libs think is truth about the 'evil' US military.

"I don't get it, why oh why do Repubs look at the ground mumbling when they get a Demo in the corner?"

Because they play fair (too fair vs. the Demons), have a heart and a soul. Most with morals and virtue learned at an early age that "if you can't say anything nice about someone, don't say anything at all" It seems all Demons ignore this rule of 'unity'. Screaming for Bush to unite us, while spouting excessively divisive rhetoric secured in first amendment rights. With the multitude of scumy mud-slinging from the left, we must join Rove in pointing out the anti-American slant of the left's policies. I know... it's playing at their level, but in this modern media-war we must get the truth out about the left's intended path of the destruction of America as we know it.

ESAD is good - but for these folks, ESABATM is more appropriate.

Okay...I figured out real fast what "ESAD" means but what does "ESABATM" mean? ;^)

Believe it or not, I was on the same SOUTHWEST flight as Schumer from Baltimore to Buffalo, NY, Friday, June 24th..7:00AM

First glance, it never registered between my ears that Chucky Schumer would be flying with the "great unwashed"...non reserved seating.

He was apparently going to Buffalo to give a speech at the Buffalo airport in support of a commuter airline ...either Independence Air or Big Blue or something...imploring them to open more flights to and from Buffalo in order to stir economic growth (Buffalo has terminal cancer...thank you liberals).

Right now I'm glad I didn't recognize him immediately or else I'd be a new member on the NO-FLY list...having verbally assaulted him.

Youre so right. It's is amazing and sickening the
way the Clinton's are ALWAYS in the news or being
propped up by Loving-Comrades.

The Enemy Within
and
The Enemy Without

Will America Survive
The Clintons?

September 11, 2001... How soon America has forgotten
that the Clinton's were and continue to be the root of that evil!

Haven't the Kennedys come up with some "interesting" versions of the "truth" over the years...?

It would have been nice if VP Cheney had answered Teddy in that way the other day when Kennedy asked Cheney if it wasn't time for him to resign.

Maybe Hillary Poisoned the entire Senate. The Senate is acting like the old White House is running the show. This is getting pretty silly!

It is rare, indeed, that the human genome produces such a piece of unqualified sh*t

Rarer still that it produces an entire political party of them....
