Pelosi Declares Afghanistan War "Over"
Drudge/Wash Times ^ | 6/23/05 | Drudge

Posted on 06/23/2005 6:26:56 AM PDT by HRoarke

Seven Republican members of Congress said yesterday House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was "demoralizing" U.S. troops by saying twice Tuesday that the war in Afghanistan is over during a press conference she held to call for an investigation of detainee abuses. "Would you prefer that they gave up the fight, stopped hunting for Osama bin Laden and allowed the terrorists to run free?" the Republicans, all members of the House Armed Services Committee, wrote in a letter to the California Democrat. On Tuesday, Mrs. Pelosi and three other top Democrats called for a commission to investigate reported abuses of detainees from the war on terror. Mrs. Pelosi said it is past time that the administration established a policy on determining the fates of the detainees at U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, arguing that most are from Afghanistan and that the conflict there has ended. "I assume that the war in Afghanistan is over, or is the contention that you have that it continues?" she said to a reporter. A few moments later, she said: "This isn't about the duration of the war. The war in Afghanistan is over."

Hamid Karzai Declares Nancy Pelosi's career OVER!

An "embarassment", no doubt, in fact, that's probably being too kind.

What a nutbag. What's up with the dems? First Durbin...no Pelosi, even for being the usual nutjobs they're being more daffy.

Now, the stupid itch is a military stratagist. Some surgeon needs to operate on her eyelids so she can close them at night. Not getting enough sleep has affected what brain she has.

What a stupid, STUPID congresswoman... She does not deserve to be in the leadership position in which she is in. What is wrong with people who repeatedly elect the likes of her to Congress. Simply unbelievable!

"Many of the detainees have been in U.S. custody since October 2001. Why have they been in custody for nearly four years without being charged? Why has so little been done to resolve the status of the detainees?"

Because they're Al Qaeda terrorists who would kill thousands of Americans in an instant if they could again figure out how to do it. What would you do, Pelosi, you moron? Turn them loose to plot and operate against America again? Geez!

The military needs to drop her a$$ out the back of a C-130 over Tora Bora, or the Afgahn border with Pakistan, with a backpack full of bibles and some pork rinds.

"C-Ya Wench!"

Karl Zinmaster (sp?) said yesterday in an article for the American Enterprise yesterday that the Iraq was over and we "won." I don't remember that anyone here was particularly bothered by that!

Have forgotten the details but her husband (and Boxer's too) is into leveraged business practices on the int'l level (again may have the details wrong).

They need to have their lives turned inside out - there's something that will shut this extremely dangerous idiot up. Not talking about making anything up or framing anyone. The goods just need to be gotten.

And before the flaming starts at least consider that "gotten goods" or pictures etc. is the most likely explanation for the spineless pub majority in the senate.

The stakes are too high to continue playing by "gentlemen's rules" - if those ever existed outside of the movies.

More than 100 Taliban killed in south Afghanistan in three days

KABUL, June 23 (Xinhuanet) -- More than 100 Taliban militants werekilled during the fight began three days ago with the Afghan National Army (ANA), Afghan National Police (ANP) and Coalition inAfghan southern province of Kandahar, an Afghan official said Thursday.

"The fight began on the night of Monday in Mian Nashin district of Kandahar, and 32 Taliban militants were killed during the fight on Tuesday, with 15 being arrested," Defense Minister Mohammad Ishaq told Xinhua.

Demand that Pelosi be censured for her comments and removed from her post in the House. Her behavior is reprehensible.

Apparently, Karl hasn't been keeping up with the news either. Should he be denounced too?

The War is Over, and We Won

By Karl Zinsmeister

Your editor returned to Iraq in April and May of 2005 for another embedded period of reporting. I could immediately see improvements compared to my earlier extended tours during 2003 and 2004. The Iraqi security forces, for example, are vastly more competent, and in some cases quite inspiring. Baghdad is now choked with traffic. Cell phones have spread like wildfire. And satellite TV dishes sprout from even the most humble mud hovels in the countryside.

Many of the soldiers I spent time with during this spring had also been deployed during the initial invasion back in 2003. Almost universally they talked to me about how much change they could see in the country. They noted progress in the attitudes of the people, in the condition of important infrastructure, in security.

I observed many examples of this myself. Take the two very different Baghdad neighborhoods of Haifa Street and Sadr City. The first is an upper-end commercial district in the heart of downtown. The second is one of Baghdad’s worst slums, on the city’s north edge.

I spent lots of time walking both neighborhoods this spring—something that would not have been possible a year earlier, when both were active war zones, where tanks poured shells into buildings on a regular basis. Today, the primary work of our soldiers in each area is rebuilding sewers, paving roads, getting buildings repaired and secured, supplying schools and hospitals, getting trash picked up, managing traffic, and encouraging honest local governance.

What the establishment media covering Iraq have utterly failed to make clear today is this central reality: With the exception of periodic flare-ups in isolated corners, our struggle in Iraq as warfare is over. [my emphasis? Egregious acts of terror will continue—in Iraq as in many other parts of the world. But there is now no chance whatever of the U.S. losing this critical guerilla war.

The left wants to declare the war "over" so that they can release the prisoners and not be found guilty of treason for aided said enemy.

Other than that, they will still be listing "war dead" and demanding that the troops be brought home. We still have trooops in Japan, Germany, Korea, and countless other battlegrounds.

Heavy deployment remained for years after the wars. Stabilization efforts remain.

When some moderate leftist was talking to me a couple months ago and saying that this war in Iraq has people down, I said "what war?". There is no "enemy" side, these are terrorists making individual strikes. Saddam will not return to power. There is no uniform for the other side. There is no one to negotiate with at a table. They already kill men women and children, Iraqis and foreigners. Their "word" on an agreement is worth nothing.

The "insurgents" who come in from other countries (and are paid to fight) are akin to the KKK in the post-Civil War reconstruction South. Create havok, assassinate those who may come to power. If there was any support for the "insurgents" they would vote for their representatives at the ballot box.

What is it with this woman and her liberal friends? Every single day they wake up "dump" on the Military, and then wipe their "behinds" with the the American flag. Outrageous!

You would think they might take a day off. You know, just to do something different. Can they just once say something truthful about our heroic fighting men and women? After all, our young soldiers and marines are taking horrible casualties every day. How ironic, our youthful servicemen get their arms and legs blown off every day so these liberal jerks can call them Nazis. Liberals must be the world's greatest ingrates!

These Commie/libs can't wait to haul some soldier before some stupid commission to explain why he/she was so mean to the people who were beheading their prisoners. It's getting very old and tedious. It is also treasonous. The military will police their own without your help, Ms. Pelosi. (One more facelift she'll have a goatee).
