Tancredo Asks Questions About Denver Library Policies
Congressman Demands Answers from Hickenlooper About New Spanish Language Emphasis
WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) asked questions about the Denver Public Librarys Spanish language policies in a letter sent to Mayor John Hickenlooper today. The letter asked a dozen questions ranging from the planning of a Spanish-language-only library to the alleged freeze of career advancement for librarians who do not speak Spanish. The questions are based on information from library employees and patrons.
Denver Public Librarys apparent shift towards a Spanish-language-only library, Spanish language book quotas and coercion of librarians to learn Spanish is of great concern. Denver does not need further cultural balkanization. I hope Mayor Hickenlooper exposes the process by which these decisions were made and takes steps to correct these mistaken policies said Tancredo.
This is fascinating. If true, Denver Public Library system has a lot of 'splaining to do. Good work Tom. Not every congressman takes on the difficult issues.
Further evidence that English needs to be recognized as the "official" language of America. No one should be required to use any other language for any reason within our borders.
Seems as only Tom takes on these issues. Even the White House shrinks away from them.
I like that guy.

Somebody needs to get slapped - hard.
This type of crap needs to be stopped - now.

That's a pretty submissive way of dealing with this. I guess Tancredo doesn't want to be seen as extreme, so he is using a mild manner.
Even our champions are shrinking from the task.
Personally, I'd blast Hickenlooper.
This gotta get the gall of the pro illegal immigrant members of Congress.
Dane and bayourod will say illegal aliens are just reading the materials that Americans won't read.
"Personally, I'd blast Hickenlooper."
Chickenlooper has been getting blasted on the radio aroind here because of the cop-killing illegal that worked for the restaurant he has an interest in. He made a statment after the shooting about how he thought of all the illegals working for him as "family".
Cong. Tancredo is one of the few politicians with the courage to take on issues like these. He is a true patriot who loves the United States of America.
With this, on top of Ward Churchill -- it appear Colorado has gone freaking nuts!
Where is the line drawn in Colorado?

Thank you, Mr. Upchuck (if I may be so formal) Thank you for posting the live link on your post #8.
I just hope this actually gets some attention. Because it's probably happening all over the country as we speak.
And just call me upchuck. Everybody else does :)
More proof of discrimination against native Anglo-Americans by their own government in their own country.
And why not???
We sat idly by for forced bussing of little school kids to achieve "racial balance" and still are sitting contentedly by while affrimative action (reverese discrimination) attacks white and Asian Americans at every level of society.
They have measured us - the government and politicians and found us lacking.
I really hope he runs for president.
"Where is the line drawn in Colorado?"
The line is forming right now. Lots of people are getting really PO'd. They said on the radio this morning that Diana Degette (congresscritter) sent a letter to Tancredo telling him to leave Denver alone and quit picking on them.
I heard that. The braintrust (I use the term loosely) DeGette actually told Tancredo to stop "nosing around" Denver issues when he should be focusing on his own constituents' problems.
Get a clue, DeGette. This problem spills over to other congressional districts. That's what bothers me the most. Congressional reps SELECTIVELY taking refuge from criticism, based on "district." On most congresspeople's website, if you aren't a constituent, you can't even write to them.
DeGette is front page news about stem cell research. Tell me exactly how that issue doesn't cross congressional districts?
They can sit on committees which have global impact, but you are barred from their website if your resident zipcode doesn't match theirs. Why? Follow the money. You can't vote for or against them, so you don't matter. But what they do will impact you. Go figure.
