About once a year I review a book in this column that ought to be required reading for people who care about politics. Edward Klein's "The Truth About Hillary" is such a book. The pre-publication leak about the book that Bill Clinton had allegedly talked about raping his wife was off-putting for me. I don't usually waste my time reading salacious scandal books from the left or the right. But I was advised to take a look at this book, which I read last weekend. It was worth my time. This is not a scandal book intended merely to gratify the reader's salacious interests. Instead, Mr. Klein has written a serious political and psychological biography of the most likely next Democratic nominee for president and thus, quite plausibly I fear, the next president of the United States. Although this is a heavily researched book that includes amongst its sources almost 100 people who are or were personally close Mrs. Clinton, this is not a peek through a keyhole. Instead, it is a peek and more than a peek into the mind of Hillary. And, whether you like or hate Hillary, the inside of her mind is a fascinating place in which to rove about. Hillary haters will certainly find further evidence to support their sentiment. Principled liberals , I suspect, will be deeply disconcerted by what they will find out about her mind in this book. But for people who like their presidents, ruthless, expedient and very smart (in a dangerous time those are not all bad features), the portrait Mr. Klein paints may well not be seen as negative. In fact, as the author notes, Mrs. Clinton has more than a little in common with Richard Nixon.

why is everyone so afraid of her?
-Hillary Clinton- archives, comments, and opposition research --
That's the long answer- my own short one? Americans were stupid enough to elect, then re-elect, her husband...
She's a crappy,predictable, and unconvicing actor/politician. IMO
Not everyone is afraid of her. That's part of the problem.
Because those of us who study history have seen people like her before. The lust for power and disregard for life is eerily similar to dictators like Mao, Hitler and Stalin.
Because grifters have no conscience and in this case the grifters have a compliant media.
Because she is power-mad and determined AND backed by a liberal MSM that holds the minds of milions of morons out there, who, unfortunately, vote.
Could not have said it better myself. We need to work hard to defeat her.
She will have innocent people killed based on ego. Think I'm whacked for making such a statement?
She ordered her husband to bomb Kosovo when her handpicked puppet Albright could not repeat with Milosevich the act of forced settlement that Holbrooke had accomplished previously.
Blankley is correct about this being a good book. I got mine yesterday, and am almost finished reading it. The passages about a so-called rape, Hillary being a lesbian, etc., are being deliberately overblown by the press in order to discredit the whole book. Something like the way Aldrich's book about Clinton was treated in the early 90's. Ridicule the parts that are really not worth reading anyway, in order to discount the whole thing.
If you're someone who doesn't want to read the whole book, get the latest 'Vanity Fair' (with Nicole Kidman's picture on the front). The magazine has excerpted a chapter from Klein's book, and it's most enlightening. And has nothing to do with the salacious stuff.
Inside the Criminal Mind - Stanton Samenow. Criminals are anti-freedom.
Run Hillary Run!
Too true. It's always the threat that you discount that bites you in the butt. She needs to LOSE in 06 to kneecap her. I know that a majority of NY-ers OUTSIDE of NYC loathe her so it will be interesting to see what happens. I think a strategy of pointing out her faults and bogus political agenda will do FAR MORE than a personal attack that will give her the lunatic moonbat sympathy vote.
Grifters, precisely. You are undoubtedly aware of Bill and Hillary's links to the Travelers, a cult of grifters with roots predating our own colonial period. Explains effectively why they are well outside the moral and intellectual framework of our culture.
When it comes to NY you can be sure the votes are already in the voting machines for the 2006 election.
