CABLE NETWORKS TO OFFER HOMOSEXUAL PROGRAMS 24/7
By AFA Journal ^ | By AFA Journal

Three major cable providers are buying into the launch of two new homosexual cable networks that will air homosexual programming around the clock for the first time in U.S. television history.

In April, Comcast and Cox Communications agreed to offer the homosexual network "Here," put out by Regent Entertainment through their video-on-demand offerings. Viacom will offer its own advertiser-supported homosexual network, "LOGO," as a basic cable channel starting on June 30.

"I don't think most parents want their children flipping channels on their way to the Cartoon Network and running across a scene of two men kissing in bed on the LOGO network," said American Family Association president Tim Wildmon. "Most of us have enough to explain to our children nowadays."

Wildmon also sees potential for late-night programming on the networks to turn pornographic in nature. "The very nature of homosexuality is based on eroticism and infatuation with sex," Wildmon said. "This programming will be targeted to a group of people who define themselves by their sexual behavior, and one can expect the gay networks to follow the trend in offensive late-night programming such as we saw with NYPD Blue, only in a more deviant homosexual context.

"The gay and lesbian networks are geared toward mainstream homosexuals who view sexuality and define pornography very differently from the majority of mainstream Americans."

The New York Times reported that Viacom's LOGO network already has access to 10 million homes and is supported in advertising by Orbitz, Subaru and Paramount Pictures.

"We will hold accountable companies who sponsor this type of offensive heavy-duty homosexual content," Wildmon said. "This type of programming invading cable reinforces the need for a la carte choices instead of forcing people to pay for a 24-hour homosexual network."

I hear the new station will transmit signals strong enough to reach Uranus.

I fired Comcast years ago for being arrogant and unresponsive.

Someday I want to be able to buy only the channels we watch. Right now over 50% are tuned out, just so that I can get the one's we want. Perhaps something like this will hasten that day. If so, bring it on.

Hmmm... I would say, shocked as in switching it off now. It was neither attractive nor amusing.

Give me a break! You've got the V-Chip, you can "delete" channels from the automatic channel finder... TECHNOLOGY (if not SUPERVISION) more than allows ANY parent to determine what their child watches at home. There's also the state known as OFF. Use it!

I do!

It can't be pornographic if it is basic cable. FCC regulates that.

There you go, spouting off with facts! How dare you?! (sarcasm)

Give 'm hell and remember the V-Chip & OFF switch too.

It would be nice to only buy the channels you watch but you probably would balk at the costs since you probably watch things which are subsidized by the "scandalizing" programming you ignore. The Bush administration studied this and claim costs would *not* drop.

Why not just shut the TV off? There's essentially nothing entire wholesome that would pass muster with some here at FR thus there are those who have no TV at all. Tonight I watched a couple of old-time serials on DVD, the rest of the week I'll probably watching nothing at all.

Perhaps the costs would not drop. But I believe we would quickly get a more accurate picture of what people are actually watching. And in return a more responsive industry. It's sort of like getting a free order of tofu with every hamburger. You just can't tell if people actually want it because they have no choice, even if it's free.

We have often thought about turning the TV off. But there are things we enjoy watching, including TV Land, Fox News, HGTV, History Channel, Discovery and more. I haven't watched the networks regularly for years, but my husband enjoys CSI and just started watching House. Oh, and I really like Monk when it's on.

Truthfully, it's because we just aren't disciplined enough to do it. Sometimes, I feel guilty about that. Most of the time I sit quietly until that feeling goes away. Sad huh?

Just what kind of company would sponsor this kind of programming?

Vaseline, dildo manufacturers, women's underwear retailers, pharmaceutical companies that make AIDS, herpes, and other STD treatment drugs, along with things like Viagra and Gerbil food...

Even if it isn't order on demand, there is a blocking function on cable so that you can block those channels.

The trouble there is that it is all gay, all the time on any of them...

But, I have no use for it but Fox News. If I could just get ONE effing channel with a cable subscription I would pay $20.00 per month JUST for Fox News.

The rest of it could get taken over by terrorists for all I care... In a certain sense, it already has...

I thought they already had gay networks-they were called Lifetime and The Food Channel.

And Bravo.

You're still paying for it. It's the money, not the channel that pisses me off.
