Hugh Hewitt just said, moments ago, that, according to his sources, Chief Justice William Renquist will announce his retirement on Monday, and that the President will announce his nominee on Tuesday.

My prediction is this won't be the big battle. This is a conservative for conservative pick. The Dems will save their filibuster for when O'Connor or a liberal retires (or dies, as old as those codgers are getting).

Bush would never recess appoint a Supreme Court Justice. Nor should he.

Nor should any President.

Chief Justice John Ashcroft would send the moonbats into a frenzy. Something to be said for that.

I think that might be the best strategy. Don't let the Dems focus on one nominee. If they try to filibuster, nuke 'em. And not just judicial nominations. Let's get Bolton through, too.

If he appoints Gonzalez, all hell will break loose. We need a reliable pro-life justice to replace Rehnquist. We need a MORE conservative court, not a less conservative court.

No RINOs. This isn't a position you appoint someone to just because he is an old friend.

This is the bottom line. No compromise.

Four of the nine justices must agree to hear a case before it can be heard. One justice, even the chief, does not decide that.

That's what its gonna take given obstructionism of the dem zealots.

They are so far out on that limb now, I'm thinking they're going to have to accuse Scalia of murder to keep him out of the top spot.

"And since, as usual, you don't have anything of value to add, try not to muddy up the thread."

Yes, you pseudo-intellectuals have it all correct. Once, again, your arrogance, and stupidity, are "duly noted". Please try not to make even more of an ass of yourself, this is an important thread.

Instead, we have a few prime candidates that are truly anti-American.

LOL!! Like who?

Is Bush thinking about nominating Durbin?
