Hugh Hewitt just said, moments ago, that, according to his sources, Chief Justice William Renquist will announce his retirement on Monday, and that the President will announce his nominee on Tuesday.
I'd believe it if Sally said so.
Ah, speak for yourself.
Yeah, he sets the schedule, but he doesn't control what cases are heard. It's a very overblown job title.
Yeah, but that was the worst mistake Ike made in 8 years, too. 8>(
Perfect.
And when the Dems and media start howling, the only response should be, "hey...didn't she pass muster and win confirmation in the senate just a month ago?"
Hey Mo,
Get your armor on? Are you locked and loaded? You see any zips in the wire...shoot first, ask questions later.
Fine... Thomas to CJ, Olson to replace Thomas' AJ seat.
Hewitt is the first person from which I've heard about Monday's retirement date, but I listen to him often and find him to be reliable, so I went ahead and posted the info.
I am kinda hoping two SC Justices would announce their retirements this summer -- now that would make for a VERY INTERESTING summer!
Thanks. Never heard of him before... 'course I listen mostly to Rush and local talk radio (KDKA) the rest of the time.. except when I'm traveling and can get Laura... Again, thanks.
Wouldn't you think that Gonzales would be confirmed 94-6 or so, whereas Thomas would be lucky to get 50-50? I would be unsurprised if Gonzales is the pick, but I hope it is not he.
KENNEDY "RULES OUT" CLARENCE THOMAS FOR CHIEF JUSTICE

Bump to that. Scalia is a great appointee, but he dances to the authoritarian tune every once in a while when his personal opinion comes into it. Witness his recent writing on the necessary and proper clause and interstate commerce RE: medical marijuana.
Hey sink, do you feel electricity in the air? A zot coming? I do.
How long till the Summer Recess......?
Nice thoughts, Zack.
Great minds! #75
I think I have heard rumblings that Scalia MIGHT have some problems, BUT Clarence Thomas would for sure have problems if he was nominated to Chief Justice...
I think the dems would let Scalia slide and save ammo for the replacement...
I like the idea of Miguel Estrada---do you know if he is pro-life? How about immigration?
I am asking like you know all of the answers---I am just hoping that you have read stuff about Estrada....
Let's see if the same people who equate our military with the Nazis want to have a say in the next CJ.
