Terri Schiavo's remains buried in Clearwater
Sun-Sentinel ^ | June 20, 2005 | MITCH STACY

Posted on 06/20/2005 8:40:58 PM PDT by FairOpinion

Terri Schiavo's husband buried her cremated remains in a Clearwater cemetery Monday, inscribing on her bronze grave marker that ``I kept my promise.''

David Gibbs, an attorney for the woman's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, said inscribing the marker that way was a nasty political statement by Michael Schiavo, who held the service and burial Monday before telling her family.

``Obviously, that's a real shot and another unkind act toward a grieving mom and dad,'' Gibbs said.

After earlier announcing plans to bury his wife's ashes in their native Pennsylvania, Michael Schiavo instead interred them at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, near Tampa, his attorney, George Felos, said in a short news release Monday.

My grandmother use to say that if you have to try to convince other people how religious you are, you probably aren't.

And the justification for THEM deciding what I can and cannot do is what?

"What if someone has expressed such a wish to you orally; would you keep silent and lovingly take care of them by keeping them on life support until such time as your money or hope or patience runs out...?

Naaah- first I'd hire a lawyer to sue the daylights out of the doctors and hospitals. Then i'd perjure myself by swearing to the jury I'd take care of them for the rest of their life expectancy, so please give me as much money as you can.

Then, I'd sit back until the money came in. Then, I'd order that all rehab be stopped, because- whoa! she said she wanted to die anyway- but i forgot about that until now-
and then I'd hire a new lawyer who specializes in death, and petition the court to kill her. (I might think about putting the date of incident on the tombstone just to further prove i perjured myself).

Then I'd deny her family every courtesy I could, and play a shell game with the ashes. Then, I'd make sure the judge allowed me to cremate her after the autopsy-I'd actually say I wanted an autopsy-oops the judge said I had to do that anyway- well, whatever.
So, did i forget anything? Oh right, the shacking up with another babe thing, and fathering a couple of kids out of wedlock- that will be good for the book sales, hey sex sells, right?

MS you're a creep

Too complicated for a yes or no, thats for sure. But, I agree, simple people can find complication in simple answers. For you, here is your simple answer ~ yes. I doubt you will understand that, but it is simple.

Horrible but true. The same bozos who think there is nothing wrong with staving Terri to death think there is nothing wrong with the mass slaughter of innocent children.

As for your Muslim comment, two wrongs don't make a right. Their religion allows mass murder of innocents. Mine does not.

Justification? You mean they need justification? LOL

They certainly don't think they need it.

"No, but you were the one who didn't want any countering points of view."

Grunt, you've got to realize the difference between countering points of view, which are (can be) healthy, and outright attacks. Review the posts from earlier today. Get a feel for who has a love for Terri Schiavo's family and who has contempt for anyone who supports them. I welcome a non-threatening non-name calling "differing point of view" discussion anytime.

No one in my family would ever ask us to starve them to death.....we know that would be wrong in my family. Food is not life support.

OK, sugar britches, let's pretend Michael is NOT a child of God?

I didn't say whether Michael was or wasn't. I simply said scripture states that not all are children of God.

Obviously, when you are confronted with a truth that makes you uncomfortable, you are driven to use terms like 'sugar britches' in an attempt to divert your discomfort.

What scripture says you can persecute and crucify him?

Please copy and paste the post where I ever indicated or implied that Michael should be persecuted or crucified.

I know it's difficult for you to be honest, so I expect your next post will either be an attempt at diversion or some weak effort to try to claim something I said implies Michael should be persecuted or crucified. (That is, if you even reply at all.)

Well, actually I would have called it something else;o}

I'm sure I could think of other applicable terms as well. ;o)

Or figments of someone's imagination?

Multiple personalities? Hmmm... could be.

My question still stands: do we starve to death living people?

We honor advance medical directives and do not force medical treatment upon those who do not want it.

Fine. Duck the question. Food and water are life support every bit as much as oxygen is.

And the justification for THEM deciding what I can and cannot do is what?

Why, they "feel the peace of sanctification", of course!

Sanctification, dear, is a gift and a command. It's nothing anyone can or at least should feel pride over. The gift I received. The command I attempt to obey. There is no room for pride here. And no need for your accusations.

OK. However, I question if an advanced medical directive would pass legal muster if it required the physician to terminate the life of a person with a life threatening but not fatal illness.

Last time I checked a certain Dr Kevorkian was sitting in prison mulling that very concept over.
