Congressman Curt Weldon, Republican, was scheduled to appear on "The Factor with Bill O'Reilly" after the bottom of the hour.
O'Reilly announced that he was not there, had not called as to why he wouldn't be there, and his staff was not answering their phones.
O'Reilly said he was only the second person in nine years to be a no-show. And, Weldon was booked at HIS REQUEST!
As a result, Weldon was banned from "The Factor" for life.
The topic for Weldon's appearance was to have been Terrorism and the treatment of prisoners at Guantanamo.
That's what's surprising about this. Weldon would knock you down if you were on a straight line between him and a television camera.
I am also an O'Reilly fan. There are many on freepers here who if they don't agree 100% with him will write him off forever, and that's too bad. He's not conservative, nor liberal, but independant, and unfortunately too many far-right wingers can't stand it.
For the life of me, I can't figure out how O'Fraudly keeps such high ratings, considering how easy he is to see through.
The only thing I can conclude is that millions of Democrats tune in just to watch his numerous slams on President Bush and the conservative message.
Banned for life from "The Leprechaun"? How can he stand it?
O'Reilly had it all wrong on the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth -- and after that I could see all sorts of chinks in his self polished armour...
O'Reilly preferred to believe Kerry and McCain, when the slandered the Swift Boat Vets.....
He's a certifiable jerk..
Semper Fi
Yes, O'Reilly can be a very off putting bully, and I don't like him, but I would love to be on his show. I would become a persona non gratia on his show like Barney Frank, who just beats the stuffing out of the guy in a discussion over the Florida recount thingie. Maybe Weldon just didn't have the goods, and a closely reasoned argument, and when you don't have that on O'Reilly, and he's after you, well then it is a bit masochistic to subject yourself to the meat grinder; you are much better off on Larry "always throw them softballs" King. But still he should have given advance notice of the cancellation. That is just infra dig.
You mean "Hanraty and Corpse"? Truly must-miss TV.
Ol' Blowhard is no friend to conservatives... He's kinda' like McCain with a talk show.
I thought his name was spelled Oh'Really.
O'Reilly was just "grandstanding" tonight, first time I have had the show on in a long time, wasn't watching just didn't bother to get up and change channel.
O'Reilly most interesting segment was fawning over Hillry and how he would not be having the author on and how awful it was to write about something so irrelevant as her marriage and its status.... Compared the new Hillry book to Kitty Kelly's book on the Bush family, and he took a poll which indicated he should not have her on his show.
Thanks for posting. Interesting. (Didn't know much about Weldon.)
O'Really...
I wrote this for posters like you:
There are scores of FR members who will not only stab O'Reilly and Hannity in the back; they will savage the bodies beyond recognition. Then they will then proudly drag the bodies though the streets; loudly proclaiming that by their actions they have somehow advanced the cause of liberty and conservatism.
O'Reilly, single handedly, at great personal risk, and against all odds, took out Professor Sammi Al Arian (spelling may be wrong, but he's the Muslim-terrorist-professor from Florida). None of the slamming posters can claim anything that even approaches that, and yet, they carry on as though they are the saviors of the Union. He unashamedly champions the cause of defenseless children, while the bashers gleefully stab him in the back.
Hannity regularly grills left-wing RATS in front of millions, something the bashers havent even dreamt of. Yet the bashers clam to help the conservative cause by doing their best to cripple Hannity. Hes raising millions for the college education of the children of our soldiers who have been slain in battle, not taking a single penny for himself. The bashers here at FreeRepublic are busy trying to destroy him, caring not a wit for those fatherless families. What hatefilled posters they are.
They ought to be ashamed of their posts, and the damage it causes FreeRepublic and our cause. They should be forced to change their names before ever posting here again.
I wish Jim Robinson would offer the same protection to O'Reilly and Hannity that he does for Rush. They certainly deserve it and need it.
His opinions are determined by lot.
Hannity is the single worst debater on TV, so he hardly "grills" anybody. I watched with amazement as the tortoise George Mitchell wiped the floor with him. His Cliffnotes Conservatism is unbearable on radio. It's nice he's raising a few million for military kids. But H. Ross Perot has raised over $200 million for military families without any profit motive or public gloating. Am I banned from criticizing Perot because of that? Ridiculous. How dare you try and censor the opinions of FReepers on this forum.
The difference between Conservatives and Liberals is that we don't play partisan politics at the expense of the truth.
True, O'Reilly has been a great supporter of those folks attempting to bring Clinton to justice, spotlight intolerance of the Left, bring to justice those who attempted to pocket donations for the 9/11 funds, etc.
However, in the past couple of years he has become too full of himself, and a flaming hypocrite. The gall of him lecturing others on their lack of morals while running around on his wife! And, like another poster, I totally lost respect for O'Reilly when he demeaned the Switftboat vets and failed to attack the lies of Dan Rather.
Remember, my friend... you cannot play on the team of angels if you condone the sins of your own players.
