Corwyn (Cory) William Zimbleman
Tucson, AZ (formerly of Champaign, IL)

Age 53. Born April 18, 1952 to the late Willard and Gilda (Ebert) Zimbleman, died June 10, 2005. Throughout his life Cory was an extraordinary artist. His artistic talent and imagination would bring awe to all who viewed his work. His works grace an LP cover and numerous books; using Computer Aided Design (CAD) he designed home and business exteriors, interiors, and furniture for several architectural firms. His talent went beyond the fine arts as he added sculpturing, woodworking, metals, and other mediums to his repertoire. Having never gained the recognition he deserved in his own lifetime his family hopes to publish a book of his works. Another of his passions was herpetology. As a child he was always bringing home reptiles. His friends nicknamed him "Snake." He even built a turtle pond in his backyard. An avid atheist, he studied the bible and religion with more fervor than most Christians. He had strong political opinions and followed Amy Goodman's radio broadcast "Democracy Now." Alas the stolen election of 2000 and living with right-winged Americans finally brought him to his early demise. Stress from living in this unjust country brought about several heart attacks rendering him disabled. Cory, a great man, so very talented, compassionate and intelligent, dedicated to the arts and humanities and the environment, will be greatly missed by his wife, family, and friends. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Montiel; his step-daughter, Esperanza Hernandez both of Tucson; his brother, Mike (Dana) of St. Louis, MO; his sisters, Susan St. Claire of San Jose, CA and Laura Zimbleman of Ypsilanti, MI, and his turtles Heidie, Skinhead and Studley and many other pets. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2005 from 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m., please call 883-2862 for information. Cremation has taken place.

Things to ponder...but not for long:

1. He designed one LP cover...that must've been a few years back. Too close to the end of LPs or not worth a second shot?

2. Just how many right-wing Americans was he living with and when did his wife find out? I think I understand how this could lead to one's demise now.

3. Boy was he close to his turtles for them to be listed amongst the bereaved. Hey, wait a minute, were they the right-wingers? I didn't know turtles had wings, much less ideologies. Why would turtles even need to know their right from their left?

4. If he had to design anything for architectural firms, it's a wonder he didn't stress out sooner. If you don't think designing isn't stressful, check out Hildi Santo Tomas' work on Trading Spaces and see how the homeowners react to feathers, hay or cardboard on their walls (not to mention cardboard furniture).

On an entirely serious note, I really hope that all of his Bible studies led him to the His Savior at last, and I pray that his loved ones will search for the One Who is waiting to hear from them.

Try being a black, Jewish, conservative woman

Who told you about that?

Okay, look, it was the early 80's, I was in college and going through a "trying to find myself" phase.  Didn't you do a little "experimenting".

Boy, one weekend you lose control and you're branded for life.

LOL. Yes, in the early '70s I experimented w/being a commie hippie. Thankfully, due to my enthusiastic support of the pharmaceutical industry at the time, I don't remember much of it.

Hey, I see you're in Michigan. I lost a lot of brain cells in Ann Arbor; maybe you've seen them around?

They have to if they expect to pass their driving test.

Is that a real obit? Or maybe better put, is that obit for real?!

Alas the stolen election of 2000 and living with right-winged Americans finally brought him to his early demise. Stress from living in this unjust country brought about several heart attacks rendering him disabled.

Huh? Now I've heard everything. I was looking for the gag line. I thought maybe the Onion or Scrappleface...

and

Having never gained the recognition he deserved in his own lifetime his family hopes to publish a book of his works.

I guess more of that unjust country conspiring against him.

Another senseless death from PEST! Oh, when will it end? (whined with moaning and sobbing)

Why would somebody who claims he doesn't believe in GOD - study the Bible ..?? Hmmmmm??

AND - 'with more fervor than most Christians!' Yeah, it is strange. Maybe he was suffering from wanting to be a Christian and being repressed by his own atheist friends and family.

It's more of a eulogy than an obit. Maybe they were afraid no one would come to the service or hear the eulogy, generally delivered at a funeral, but being atheists, well, they had to squeeze it in somewhere. I think he needs our prayers...

In many ways, artists are the blind among us. They have gifts, and can step outside of themselves to set forth a truth. They can't, however see just how self-righteous and delusional they are. They are the anointed, and the rest of humanity the benighted. I am an artist, and won't tell tales out of school, but I have always tried to see rather more like Jefferson than Picasso.

Mr. "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" Douglas Adams?

I had the Infocom text-based game patterned after it as a teen.

If it is he to whom you are referring, it was a shame he passed on at his relatively early age.

If that were true, every single person who posted here until January 21, 2001, would have dropped dead at their computers.

It's kinda weird that only his dead parents and a sister share the same last name as him.

Perhaps that's why he felt like he "never gained the recognition he deserved in his own lifetime"...
