Bump!!
Everything you said is true and fair, except that these young men lied right off the bat, saying they'd dropped her off at the hotel, that a uniformed security guard was approaching her. They lied from the start. Why? Why not just say, oh, she was a little drunk, but okay, wanted to walk on the beach, so we left her there and went home. The fact that they lied, and that they'd clearly gotten together and planned to say exactly the same story is pretty damning. As for the fact that they haven't caved in at this point, probably more than one lawyer has told them to clam up.
Exactly. Supposedly they are questioning them for up to 11 hours a day; what gives?
Something to trace her with. GPS.
The refreshments and the candle w/ the prayer card could just be a European thing. My MIL was Austrian and I know she was a big one for that kind of thing. Serving the least little thing on a platter, setting cards/flowers up on the table. Candles here and there.
Everything was always about atmosphere and this was even for the briefest of visits. It might be hard for us to "read" some of these things because of differences in culture and background.
Joran also reminds me of my husband when he was young (even to the point of looking like him somewhat). He, too, was very tall at that age (6'4"), quite spoiled, went to an International School, and would go out carousing with other internationals like Joran. His mother would be at her wits' end with him. I can so much seeing him getting himself in such a situation, but not being guilty of murder.
I don't know WHAT happened, of course, I just hope the real truth somehow comes out, whether it is the three being guilty or others. I pray they are following all possible scenarios.
Nope, not so. After all 3 were interrorgated together yesterday, it was reported that Deepak asked Joran why he was lying about who picked him up and Joran stated that oh, thats right it was Statish (sp?) that picked him up.
In Aruba, on such a short notice.
You (Natalee's cell phone)would have to be set up for that first of all would it not?
His home is 100 meters away from the HI? Interesting.
It's beginning to sound like the "we left her at the HI" story was something agreed upon that very night.
If you have the right connections, why couldn't it be done?
That would be enough evidence for me to convict all four of them.
A most excellent plan!
The father is circling family wagons, obstruction of justice. He's probably come to some conclusion about Natalee...that's she dead, by accident and Joran and his pals panicked. No sign of the body, and no way these three could bury her properly to avoid discovery. The obvious thing would have been to toss her to the sharks, and I suspect that's what Papa v.d.S. believes. If so, no amount of telling the truth will get her back, so Papa feels justified in protecting his son. From his expression, you can see he's 'conflicted'. Hate that term, but it's true here. He has a lot on his mind, none of it good.
Thank you.
First of all, the black security guards weren't in "prison." They were being held at the police station for questioning. There's a difference.
Questioning them was probably fully justified, if any witnesses at all thought they saw the guards with Natalie. Even if those witness accounts turned out to be unreliable, you'd still have wanted them questioned jsut to be sure, right?
Putting them in "prison" without sufficient evident would not have been justified, obviously. And they weren't put in prison, they were released -- presumably because authorites could find no real evidence against them. (And I doubt they were released because Aruban authorities have somehow set up Mrs. Twitty as their judge. She's a wonderful lady, but she's not empowered to go around exonerating people.)
Second, while many seem to assume that the van der Sloot family is hugely powerful and influential in Aruba, there are also reports that they are not.
So there are 'reports,' and there are 'reports.' What to believe? I say none of it, unless and until there're hard facts proved under fair rules of evidence.
As far as the Aruban authorites not seeming capable of "break[ing] down a bunch of young men" -- what if it turns our the young men know nothing of Natalee's ultimate fate, as I posted earlier? If that scenario is true, what information exactly are you going to get out of them by "breaking them down" ?
If any or all of those boys were complicit in murder, then they should hang. Or fry. Whatever. But we sure as heck don't know anything of the sort, yet.
You're just a cowboy.
They need to stop whinning about how they are being treated, tell the truth, and face the consequences.
