The Arab American National Museum -- the first museum dedicated to the preservation of Arab American history -- has opened in Dearborn, Mich.
The 38,500-square-foot museum highlights the contributions that Arabs have made in the United States in architecture, science, medicine and law. Themed galleries include "Coming to America," "Living in America," "Making an Impact'' and "Contributions to the Arab World."
The museum is an offshoot of Access, a social services agency. Details: (313) 582-2266, www.accesscommunity.org.

My mind simply reels with images of what the exhibits in this museum must be like. I especially like the "Making an Impact" category!

My daughter's school was going to sponsor a field-trip to that museum.
I raised hell with Admin, threatened to drag other parents into a protest against it.
Guess what?
the trip got cancelled.

Great minds think alike. As soon as I saw "making an impact" I visualized 9/11 photos.

I hope there's a room that marks:
Arab Christians: From Dhimmitude to Ellis Island.
Yeah, I thought so.

Thanks, I thought so.
I did NOT get along with her Social Studies teacher this year.
Had a wonderful time helping with some of the projects, though.
;-)
And now my daughter knows what "propaganda" is!

I wonder if they will have some of the beheading videos?

Whats wrong with learning about other cultures. Knowledge has never been a burdend. This museum might be interesting. In your mind all arabs and everything they do will be shit. Great attitude. I bet even if an Arab helped you out if you were in a stickig situation you would still hate him. And we wounder why there will never be peace on earth

That museum is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Saudis.
It is propaganda and nothing more.
I have met individual Muslims whom I have liked

Let's not paint with too broad a brush here. I'm anti-PC too, but a lot of Arab Americans are Christians -- their religion is why they left their home countires. A lot of others strongly oppose what their home countries are doing.
A Middle Eastern grocer in my neighborhood had to flee Libya. He was a secular, pro-democracy advocate and Qaddafi was trying to have him killed. There are many wonderful, courageous, pro-America Arabs and I'm thankful they came here.
