Her parents are doing her no favor by making a big deal out of it.

Didn't Richard Simmons turn a bad year book photo into a multi million dollar diet industry success? She could be the next deal a meal baby!

They airbrushed my horrendous acne out of my HS yearbook picture in the late 60s.

We got sold a bill of goods regarding acne, my friend. The teachers would always tell you "Be sure and wash thoroughly. Keeping your skin clean helps to prevent acne. Oh, and use over-the-counter medicine on pimples to help them heal."

I scrubbed my skin until it was scaly and dry on top, and still had lesions coming up under the scales. I used soap; I used Noxzema; I used astringent pads; I used Clearasil. It wasn't until I got to college that I found out that there were pills you could take to stop acne. Stop it dead in its tracks. And many of the girls (the ones with the smooth, flawless skin) in my high school took those pills. Daily.

It really made me angry that I suffered through an acne-prone adolescence when I really, really didn't have to.

I finally read the entire article and I think it's the top photo.

From the article:

What happened was this: Asheana was home sick on the day in March that most of her classmates posed for the standard cap-and-gown head shot. She took a make-up photo at the school a month later. But school officials said the $32 shoot took place just one day before the deadline to send proofs to the yearbook printer.

Without time to get the proofs, and fearing Asheana would be missing from the yearbook, her teacher — who organized the yearbook project — snapped the extreme close-up shot and sent it to the printer, school officials said.

Asheana said she does not recall having the quick substitute picture taken. In it, she appears pale and capless against a black background.

The things the mother says in the article are pretty funny.

Her mother called the school's version of events "a cover-up."

Somers signed a check refunding Maihepat $14 for the cost of the yearbook — a gesture the mom called "insulting."

"Who knows, one day she might be famous or have a lot of money and someone could blackmail her with that picture," Maihepat said.

We were told not to eat chocolate -- bad for the complexion. Turns out that's wrong -- chocolate has nothing to do with acne.

Proactiv is available at the mall now. It is amazing and doesn't have the side effects of some of the acne drugs (one can cause birth defects).

Thanks, but I needed it in 1980. You can bet, however, that my kids won't have to deal with uncontrollable acne if I have anything to do with it.

I used to think my yearbook photos were bad, but it has been all downhill for me since then. In retrospect, I never looked better!

Like 6th grade kids all focus all their time on one picture of one student. I mean, come on. 6th grade kids have a lot of other stuff to do that dwell on a picture of an "ugly" kid.

"Twenty years down the line, she's going to look at this book with her friends, and her friends are going to say, 'What happened to you there?'"

ROFLMAO! Reminds me of my 4th Grade picture. Mom cut my bangs beforehand. They were totally SLANTED, plus I had a cold so my nose is all read and peeling. My sister keeps that photo to this day, LOL!

Mom? See you in court! ;)

You should see my hubby's grade school pic-- not only crooked bangs, but also wearing the "cool" 70's two-tone lavender and brown knitted afghan vest!

If school kids focused on ugly pictures, I gave them plenty of ammo. I survived just fine.

Some parents want their kids to live in a protective bubble. That's why they are not prepared when they go out into the real world.
