Jeez, last year there was a 3.0 in Illinois and I thought someone had slammed into the side of the house... can't imagine what it's like riding out this quake swarm and waiting for the Big One!

A 3.0 feels a lot stronger in the Midwest than it does in California because the bedrock here is so fragmented from previous quakes and fault lines that the energy isn't transmitted through the Earth as efficiently. I haven't felt any of these latest quakes at all.
