A 3.0 feels a lot stronger in the Midwest than it does in California because the bedrock here is so fragmented from previous quakes and fault lines that the energy isn't transmitted through the Earth as efficiently. I haven't felt any of these latest quakes at all.
Interesting. Yes, the little old 3 that we went thru pushed my computer chair towards the desk, and at the same time the wall behind the desk gave a loud crack, so I went outside to have a look-see.... the next day I read the news that it was an earthquake centered about 60 miles west.
