Allen served as a company operations officer

First I've heard of that position.

An NCO did this? Unfriggenbelivable.

If I get the flag back I will give it to the grandson for safe keeping once he's old enough.

It was an HHC, so it could mean that Allen was company XO and they simply made a mistake about his position.

Since all of the battalion staff are always assigned to the HHC, it could be that Allen was an officer that served in the Bn S-3 (an operations officer) who would also have been a member of the HHC.

An HHC? It makes sense to me that he's probably in the S-3 shop and the reporter called him a company ops officer instead of battalion.

It's still a terrible story.

Yes, the article says it's an HHC. It appears we agree.

I found this while surfing around, from before the murder determination:

One of my best friends in life was killed on Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at 10pm Iraq time. He was the Physics and Earth Science teacher at Tuxedo high and previously at Burke Catholic.
He was an oustanding teacher and friend.
He was reinstated in the National Guard after 9/11, and served with great pride. He was instrumental in cleaning up bodies after that disaster, and as a tank commander, in guarding the Lincoln Tunnel. In February, he was ordered to stand by to be sent to Iraq.
On Saturday, the fourth, he arrived in Tikrit. His emails to family and friends indicated that all was well. On Tuesday night, a friend was visting him. Both Lou and Captain Esposito were killed by an explosion.
The Army orginally reported that his death was the result of insurgent mortar fire, but now have changed it into a murder investigation.
He leaves behind a beautiful family, his wife Barbara, and 4 sons: Trevor, 6, Colin, 5, Sean, 3, and Jeremy, 1.
A scholarship for the boys will be set up in lieu of flowers.
Those wanting to help can send donations to the Berkshire Bank, c/o Rolly Peacock, P.O. Box 469, Goshen, NY 10924. Checks should be made payable to the Louis Allen Memorial Fund.

If these two were murdered by a fellow soldier, military justice will do the right thing.

Rope or Firing Squad?

If sentenced to death, it would be lethal injection.

Thank you very much for pinging me to this report.

Nothing will make up for this. It's just awful.

Think I'll send a little cash to the fund.

Well, since so many people on the left insist that death by dehydration and starvation is a painless way to go, we should save some nickels by just withholding food and water once the death sentence is pronounced, and let . If found guilty, this guy will become the poster boy for the left. Bank on it.
