JIM BERKLAND is still predicting a 6+ earthquake for June 20-27
phone conversation with Jim Berkland | 6-16-05 | Doug from Upland

Posted on 06/16/2005 2:38:18 PM PDT by doug from upland

A few nights ago, many people were mocking the post I put up regarding Coast to Coast with George Nourey. He had on geologist Jim Berkland.

Berkland predicts earthquakes. I just spoke with him on the phone, and he is still predicting a 6+ earthquake for the period June 20-27. Let's see if he is right.

He is expanding the prediction window to include June 16

I predict that there will be several car accidents during rush hour in Albuquerque today.

Typical Nostradamus style trick. Make a bold prediction and if it doesn't come true it will be forgotten, if it does come true everybody will think you have supernatural powers.

Where does he expect this earthquake to hit?

Yeah I don't think today's quake is the one Jim was referring to. Three quakes in the last four days makes it easy to predict another.

You have a ping list for items such as this, mate? I rarely listen to Coast to Coast AM anymore, since Art retired and the shows went downhill, but there are still individuals/guests that I want to hear from. Berkland is on, and so is Sean David Morton, among others. Noorey I just sort of put up with, for the most part. No offence, George.

Did he say where it will be? I'm planning to be in Sacramento. Should I cancel?

Only if you enjoy following the advice of charletans.

this is the guy who used to watch the newspapers for lost dogs.

if lots of dogs were missing, then there would be an immediate earthquake.

I remember the "California will fall into the ocean" back in the late 1960's. That will never happen, but sooner or later a great quake on the San Andreas will strike near metro LA and the results could be devastating. Most of the quakes are on smaller fault lines, like last weeks on the San Jacinto fault. But this one in Yuciapa may have been on the San Andreas.I would be curious if we have any seismologists FREEPERS give us an assessement if percursor quakes might happen in advance of the "big one?"

Also note that this was a private phone conversation. If the earthquake he predicts doesn't happen, he will simply deny that he ever said it.

I don't have a ping list for this. I rarely put up a post for Coast to Coast and only listen to it sometimes because nothing else is on the radio, and I don't watch TV. I put up Berkland's prediction. Let's see if he is right for a 6+ from June 20-27. If it doesn't happen, be grateful, and you can send him mocking email.

Nope, I lived in Beaumont, you can actually SEE the San Andreas there. It runs a very shot disance to the west of Y.

No, he predicted it on Nourey's show a few nights away. He confirmed on our phone conversation that he is still calling it. This was not the one he called. I am not saying I believe in what he does. Let's just see if he is right in this case.
