CALLING REPUBLICANS JONES AND DUNCAN TO ACCOUNT RE: IRAQ
Self | 6/16/05 | txrangerette

Posted on 06/16/2005 7:26:30 AM PDT by txrangerette

FReepers, it is past time to spotlight two GOP Congressman who are with Nancy Pelosi in going after our President and our strategy in Iraq, at the same time others are embarrassing us before the world by claiming that we have been embarrassed by our own military and command actions at Gitmo.

I had heard about Walter Jones of North Carolina planning to introduce a resolution demanding that the President set a timetable to withdraw from Iraq. I don't know the specifics, if they are as bad as it sounds, but the media including Fox are using it to slam slam slam the President as our Commander in Chief. They are putting it side by side with falling poll numbers and saying, see, it's so rotten even Republicans are turning on the President. So I am spotlighting Jones although I don't know the wording of his proposal. I don't need to know in order to place him in exact juxtaposition with Nancy Pelosi who is calling for the same thing. What rot gut (pardon my Texan) for a Southern Republican to be doing this!

Then, I happened to catch a special order speech by John Duncan of Tennessee and was absolutely appalled. Some of the same despicable talking points I have heard and read by the Libs for months and years seem to roll out of Duncan's mouth as he trashed the President and our military leadership on Iraq. I did not hear all of it, so I don't know if he, too, demanded a timetable for withdrawal but I would be surprised if he did not.

I know there are people on the right who bashed the President on Iraq even before now. I disagreed with them but I found it more tolerable back then. This is gut check time (pardon me, again). The President is facing an all-out, no-holes barred assault on his entire Presidency, and the Left is desperate to destroy him and any success we may ultimately achieve in Iraq or have thus far. The stakes for America's future survival could not be higher.

That is why I am calling out these Congressman. For them to pile on and mimic the Dems, moveon.org, the Leftist Media etc. at this critical point makes me sick to my stomach with anger and disgust. They are worse than our political enemies, in my book, for they are supposedly part of us, which makes it the more treacherous for them to use their position from which to stab the President, the military, and our nation in the back.

Will a quick-working, enterprising FReeper get us their contact information? And will FReepers let these men hear from us? As much as I care about Terri Schiavo and some of the other big stories and controversies, I cannot help but think this is absolutely VITAL to address IMMEDIATELY.

Howard Dean, Dick Durbin and Patrick Leahy are being what we would expect, horrible as they are. But what of those in our own midst? Let us not allow them to get away with this!

Ron Paul, quisling from South Texas, is also a co-sponsor of this resolution.

You can always count on ole Ron to support our troops! (/sarcasm)

Start a recall against them now! This is how it is done, if you really want change!

Look what happended in California!

The dems ran on their opposition to the war in Iraq, and lost - time to take it to those who will not support our military in a time of war!

I am not sure you can recall Congressmen, but I as a Texan and not in their districts sure could not. However, these Republicans are trying to affect our entire nation, military, foreign policy and the Bush Presidency by their actions. I wanted to see their names up on FRee Republic in a headline instead of letting them slide by scot-free, and I know we can contact them and let them know that what they are doing is wrong. Those in their districts can do the most, however.

I think Walter "Freedom Fries" Jones is going the Voinovich route.

But will he be called to account for hurting our nation, our military, and our CINC in this critical hour? He is a Republican elected official, for crying out loud. Yet the Dem loudmouths get all the response. Let us repond to our own (so-called)!

This is not in any way an attempt to hijack your thread, but...

The Iraqi War has come home to more and more Americans. Myself included.

My next door neighbor's son who was serving with the US Army in Iraq was recently critically wounded by an IED and rushed back to Walter Reed and now transferred to the Naval Hospital here in Bethesda, Maryland.

He now re-lives the event which killed his buddy and left him with no sight in one eye and a shattered hip and thigh.

This soldier broke down yesterday according to the family and is extremely bitter...repeatedly asking "For what?" Family has been asked to stay with him 24/7 because he wakes up in the middle of the night and freaks out.

President Bush claimed only 138 died during the battle for Iraq and now the toll if over 1700 dead and over 10,000 wounded.

Many of these wounded soldiers aren't lucky enough to have family at their side at the Naval Hospital or at Walter Reed Medical Center. They are alone.

Meanwhile, the insurgency...for want of a better name...will never end without a ruthless response from the Iraqi government...with the US military more than an arm's length away. Yet, we have Mr. Durka Durka Durbin comparing these fine soldiers to Nazis or Pol Pot.

As long as this lame duck President worries about political correctness, our boys will keep dying. I too, ask, "what for?"

Thanks for nothing. I am complaining about two GOP congessman who are joining the Dems in stabbing us in the back via leftist rhetoric and proposals, while masking themselves as Southern Conservatives. If you like what they are doing in concert with Nancy Pelosi, by all means join them and sing their praises. I don't, and I won't. And that is regardless of whether political correctness is a problem in this war or not.

OK. So what would you suggest we do?

This headline does not show anywhere on my sidebar. I did not place it in General?Chat but only checked vanity post for a category. Is that the problem? But it said that such vanity posts automatically go under General/
chat, so that is all I checked. Can you place it where it gets a headline in the sidebar?

Get the press out of Iraq. Start killing the enemy instead of arresting them.

Recently the US turned over prisoners to the Kurds. That's a beginning.

When 10 people die as a result of an IED, execute 10 POWs...er, "detainees", er, "enemy combatants", er...whatever.

Duncan is a very conservative Republican who has always been a strong supporter of the military. He is about as far away from Nancy Pelosi as you can get. He is a paleo-conservative nationalist as distinct from a neo-conservative internationalist. His position on Iraq is the same as Pat Buchanan's - he's been against it on nationalist (i.e. anti-internationalist) grounds.

Great post! YES, you can recall a US Senator for "cause" and believe me when I say, this Senator ceratinly gives "cause" for his removal!

They are immune from prosecution, so long as their actions are done in the Senate!

The People of the United States are the Government, and remember, they work for US! We do not work for them and at their convience!

Take good care!

I don't care if Duncan is pro or anti-war in connection with this idea of signalling a pullout. It's such an appallingly stupid and dangerous idea that if he's advocating it, he should resign for the reason of dumbness alone.

Yeah, he's a "conservative Republican" who's pro-military but against the war. Where have I heard that before?

We ARE at war RIGHT NOW, Mr. Dunkin'. Put your other feelings aside for the moment and reverse your position on a telegraphed pullout......just to show us you have at least half your brain working.

For what? How about "freedom!" The reason our boys are asking "for what" is because they have to hear a$$-holes like Durbin!

I too have seen combat! Believe me when I say, if we cut and run, then I too will say "for what!"

If the dumycrats would let us fight the damn war, and stop this micro managing everthing we do, in order to bring down this Administration, and this Country, as well as this attempt by the Dummycrats to bring every American soldier to justice everytime we shoot a terrorist, we could have been home already, and with half the casaulties!

THANK YOU HOME GROWN COMMUNIST!

OBL was right, and we face what Israel has faced for 30 years.

OBL knows the west is weak, ie, the world-wide leftist press has painted the Islamic cults as victims of the US and Israel for decades, and they have continued to kill with impunity.

As long as there are voices out there protecting the cults, they will continue. And Americans just want it all to go away, they cannot take it, and will listen to anyone who blames Bush, Israel, Gitmo, ect.

"Get the press out of Iraq. Start killing the enemy instead of arresting them."

Fair enough. In fact both excellent suggestions only, on occasions some embedded slips and reports good news, and some folks who have little clue as to what goes on over there then the occasional car bomb picture to try to make Iraq look like a Vietnam or quagmire, seem like an honest portrait of the total picture.
Second part. I assure you our Army, Airforce, Navy, and Marines do there best to kill every scum bag they can. However read this and download the chart if you have power point on your systesm.
http://www.mnf-iraq.com/Releases/May/050506d.htm

Notice the last main top aid, Abu Talha has just given himself up to our forces in Mosul. Now should one of our guys put a bullet in his head? Or is it best to let him squeal and tell everything about the remaining foreign insurgency and Saddamist operatives in the northern region?

There is always to sides to the story. Unfortunate for many of our dear readership it appears we all do not get all aspects of what is going on over there. But assure you, my nephew and his fellow Marines will take down every scum bag they put their sights on, or call in a F18 to drop a JDAM etc. on when appropriate. One cannot kill snakes that are hiding under the sand or in a deep thicket of reeds, and cannot be visibly viewed.
Perhaps this posts may help a bit on current things going down:
