Annan in new oil-for-food probe

The Iraq oil-for-food inquiry is reviewing new information about the UN secretary-general's alleged links with a firm hired to monitor the programme. A memo by Swiss firm Cotecna published this week describes a meeting between Kofi Annan and its executives in 1998, weeks before the contract was awarded.

Mr Annan has denied prior knowledge of Cotecna's bid for the contract, though his son worked there as a consultant.

A previous inquiry report found that the UN head had not helped Cotecna.

Only a fool would think that he didn't -- how could he have not known what was going on. To argue he did not, you would have to argue he wasn't smart enough for SG.

If the lefties want a conspiracy to sink their teeth in, they should try what would have happened if the Security Council and member states were not accepting oil for WMD bribes. A rich fertile field to plow.

CNN has a copy of the "report" they are showing. It's from 1998 it seems. Kofi Annan's mouthpiece denying it. Kojo has not been cooperating with the Volker committee investigating it.
