NEW YORK - Paris Hilton plans to give up public life for family life. The 24-year-old hotel heiress, star of "The Simple Life" reality series, tells Newsweek magazine that when she was younger, "I thought it was cute to play a dumb blonde. On TV, I do it because it's funny. I consider myself a businesswoman and a brand."

But Hilton says she plans to give up her public life in two years, by which time she expects to become a mother with her fiance, Paris Latsis.

"I don't enjoy going out anymore," she says in the June 20 issue of the magazine, on newsstands Monday. "It's such a pain. It's everyone saying, `Let's do a deal! Can I have a picture?' I'm just, like, `These people are such losers. I can't believe I used to love doing this.'"

Paris and her mother, Kathy, were the grand marshals Sunday at the Los Angeles Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual & Transgender Pride Parade. Kathy Hilton wore a large white hat; Paris wore a tiara.

Kathy Hilton's new NBC reality series, "I Want to Be a Hilton," in which she coaches 14 contestants in taste and etiquette, premieres June 21.

Newsweek says Kathy and her husband, Rick Hilton, didn't want their name on the show. "We thought it was too cheeky," Rick Hilton is quoted as saying. "It does sound a little obnoxious."

Kathy Hilton says a sex tape of Paris and an ex-boyfriend that became a cyberspace novelty taught her a lesson.

"Well, that was very painful. Very painful. Very painful," Kathy Hilton tells the magazine. "But it taught me that I really can't trust everybody."

The sex tape surfaced in 2003 just before the start of Paris' reality series. She has said she was embarrassed and humiliated that the tape ever became public.

I think I've been hitting the pipe too hard tonight. I keep thinking this article says Paris Hilton is going to leave public life.

The notion of Paris Hilton's execrable mother coaching anyone on "taste and etiquette" is the greatest oxymoron that ever was!

Not even the slightest bit embarrassed or humiliated for having made it in the FIRST, place, you understand; just over its having been "made public," is all.

Words. Fail. Me.

You meant to say 'pubic' life which really is a typo?  I share your pain.

Paris Hilton represents what is wrong with society today.
Her mother as well; she does not say she regrets her daughters choices, i.e. making a sex tape, but that the tape was made public.

Her boyfriend's name is also Paris? Paris and Paris? Paris squared?

Ick, and not just because of the names.

with her fiance, Paris Latsis.

It would never have occured to me to marry a chick named Larry. I just don't think it could have worked.

Well, maybe if she had lots and lots of money.

Please Paris, just go. Have ten children and buy giant jars of mayonnaise at Costco. Just go away! I'm sure you'll make a fine person....some day.

These two are doing their damnest to drag the Hilton name straight into the gutter, aren't they?

Even if she was a Greek shipping heir? Imagine, they'll have all the ships and hotels they can ever use.

Sometimes people do grow up, so I'll reserve judgment.

I remember a great man saying, "When I was young and stupid, I was young and stupid".

Not a typo.

For enough money, Paris will keep her clothes on.

I believe the chance of Paris staying out of the limelight is about as likely as Nathan Lane turning straight and marrying Ellen DeGeneres.

Two years can't get here fast enough. Better yet, why doesn't she fast track it and make it say, next week?

Oh Please. That attention hungry slut will be back in front of the cameras before ytou know it. She needs it. Why would a girl who has no need for more money ever go to all those public parties (sometimes dressed in lingerie) or do repeat seasons on a FOX show that (unbeknownst to her?) mocks her? I giver her 18 months tops before the next sex tape surfaces.
