Professor Predicts 'Hispanic Homeland'

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A University of New Mexico Chicano Studies professor predicts a new, sovereign Hispanic nation within the century, taking in the Southwest and several northern states of Mexico.

Charles Truxillo suggests the “Republica del Norte,” the Republic of the North, is “an inevitability.”

He envisions it encompassing all of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and southern Colorado, plus the northern tier of Mexican states: Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.

Along both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border “there is a growing fusion, a reviving of connections,” Truxillo said. “Southwest Chicanos and Norteño Mexicanos are becoming one people again.”

Truxillo, 47, has said the new country should be brought into being “by any means necessary,” but recently said it was unlikely to be formed by civil war. Instead, its creation will be accomplished by the electoral pressure of the future majority Hispanic population in the region, he said.

I hate it when dumbass rednecks look at the color of someone's skin and imagine that that is who we will side with! Mexican-Americans are Americans first and have no loyalty to Mexico. True, some us celebrate our culture, but would be the first to defend the border if called to do it. Texas has lost 155 soldiers in the War on Terror. Over one third of those are Mexican-Americans. Among those is my cousin Elias Torres whos patriotism would put many white Americans to shame.

My daughter, lost an eye in a grenade attack in Iraq along with 1/2 her hearing and suffered nerve damage to her left arm. But because she has brown skin and a Spanish (actually Basque) surname she is not American enough for some of you.

I guess Democratic Underground has some of you guys pegged right.

They already are, right up to the White House. Accept it. Assimilation is inevitable.

I believe the prof. This country is so lame, it won't fight when New York is attacked and 3,000 people killed in cold blood. People would rather impeach the President for fighting back.

In the case of the Gadsden Purchase, Mexico agreed to cede an even larger chunk of land, but anti-slavery men in the U.S. Congress cut it down a bit, because they were afraid that the newly-acquired land might eventually become part of a slave state.

I know some far right mexicans. I think the next big divide in this country will be between right and left. At least that's what I see playing out in front of me daily. It won't be over ethnicity. Everyone will have to choose. That's what it's coming to.

When the people of the mentioned states are faced with losing land and other real property that they legally own, fighting back won't be a problem. Getting them to stop shooting at anything brown will be the real problem. Not only would the out of country instigators get eliminated, but a good many of our Hispanic US citizens would get caught in the crossfire.
If what he says is attempted all we have to do is shut off the water to the large centers of Hispanic population and wait for them to make targets out of themselves. We could just forgo all of that and blow the damns and canals that provide their water and let them all die of thirst. He thinks we will all just give up like good little liberals. Lock and load

Wrong.

I said he was "an asswipe".

Something that collects fecal residues and removes them from the body to maintain cleanliness of the asshole...

And then gets tossed in the trash with the rest of the garbage. Which is where he belongs with this crap.

Why is it BS? If millions of Mexicans migrate to our southwestern states, at what point does it cease to be the US and just be a part of Greater Mexico? It's not like they're actually assimilating into this country and becoming "Americans". They are Mexicans who live in the US. If the overwhelming majority of people in many of these border areas become Hispanic, and we don't seem to have the will to stop this from happening, what is to prevent such a republic from coming about?

[[It's the way the world works. You can work with it or whine about it. Obviously you prefer the latter.]]

No it is not how the world works. Most other countries on this planet are NOT multicultural. It is only the white western European countries that have this illegal alien death wish and obsession with multi-culturalism and diversity. Try telling Zimbabwe or Nigeria that they suffer from a lack of diversity because they have an over abundance of blacks in their country. First, they will laugh in your face and and then they will cut your throat from throat from ear to ear for trying to destroy their culture. Wake up before it is too late and you are kicked out of AZTLAN for being white.

Mexico only "Owned" the S.W. for about 20 years and never "controlled" it. There were very few Mexicans in Texas. The Comanche Indians were too strong for them to handle and wiped out any settlements the Mexicans tried to establish outside of S. Texas. They also were raiding deep into Mexico at will and used it like a "candy store".
The Mexicans invited the American settlers (almost all from the South) in to serve as a buffer to the Comanches.
When the Mexican dictatorship under Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana began to try to exercise micro management of the settlers and violate their rights they made a serious mistake. These Anglo/Scots-Irish frontier farmers rose up
in (typical fashion) rebellion and the rest is history.
Mexico has no legal claim to Texas whatsoever and has not had since 1836.

Just joking!! I lived in So. Calif. for 26 years. My children live in Alabama and there is a huge Mexican population that has come over from Texas. I live in Tennessee and we have a huge Hispanic population.

The land was properly ceded to us under the Treaty of Guadalupe Hildalgo in 1854, with the rest of the land bought under the Gadsen Purchase.

Not that it matters but Guadelupe Hidalgo was 1848 and the Gadsden Purchase was 1853 (barely).
