Punishment meted out after girl mishandles Quran, according to rumor circulating at Arab-Israeli town
TAIBEH – Harsh punishment? A Muslim girl from Taibeh was punished by Allah and turned into a dog, according to rumors that have been circulating in the Arab-Israeli town this week, Arab-language newspaper Panorama reported.
According to the rumors, the harsh punishment was meted out after the girl, upset by her mother’s request to bring her the Quran as she was watching television, threw the holy Muslim book at the mother with disdain.
The newspaper decided to look into the rumors and sent a reporter to check where they originated. As it turned out, the source was a photocopy of a news story posted in Taibeh’s largest mosque. According to that report, taken from the Internet, the unusual story happened in a Muslim country in Asia.

However, the newspaper reported, the rumor changed several versions as it was passed on. At one point, the dog apparently “moved” from to one of the Persian Gulf countries, and from there to Gaza, before ending up in Taibeh itself
Later on, women in Taibeh even claimed they saw the story featured on Palestinian television and on Israel’s channel 33.
The newspaper reporter also turned to the Muslim leaders to ask their opinion on the matter. One religious cleric responded that the story was obviously baseless, “since Allah doesn’t need to turn a girl into a dog in order to prove his strength. If Allah wants to prove his power he can make the entire universe shake.”
I never said "Arabs are ugly." I said that the dog was very good-looking. You assume that dogs are uglier than humans, but I think dogs are beautiful.

Interesting, since cats are the one domestic animal that definitely was extant there/then that is NOT mentioned in the Bible.

I've met more then alot of arabs and Israelis.
Some of Israelis do look arabic, and some, if not alot, look like they came straight from England or some european country.
Most arabs do look arabic, though I have met a couple who did not.
As for the whole "who is ugly" thing, thats just a matter of someones personal taste.
Never the less, the average layperson should generally be able to tell the differance between someone of arabic decent and someone who is jewish.
Going with the greater numbers, there are more jews who look european then look arabic, while there are more arabs who look arabic then look european.
Arabs aren't a monolith either...
From what I understand, a Gulf Arab looks nothing like a Lebanese Arab, or a Syrian.
I agree beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but to me it's like a Honduran saying Guatemalans are ugly...when they look quite similar to each other.
Some how, some way, his own personal feelings regarding dogs and cats just got involved in his religion.
I do remember some kind of referance to him having a woman stoned for killing a cat, and his, eventually made some kind of exception for "working dogs". Though, considering the time frame then, I have no idea what that means, and Mohammad himself doesn't explain it.
Who knows, maybe a dog bit him as a kid and he held a grudge, either way, he really really hated them.
I like dogs, I don't like cats, but its not something I would become obsessed with or make part of a religion or something.
There could be alot of reasons why he hated dogs (he was nuts, a dog bit him, maybe a dog peed on his food, etc) but the whole love of cats and enemy of dogs thing is weird.
The only thing I have ever heard from a muslim about it, is they dogs are dirty, and thats pretty much it.

That said, from what I have seen (not to mention also been told by folks who go to Israel), the "palestinians" and the jews over there can tell who is a jew and who is a palestinian generally.
A light skinned person who goes into the occupied terrotories, is generally assumed to be a jew or european.
I think a better analogy then Hondurans and Guatemalans might be Polish (slavic) and French (or anglican).

Did the girl call for the stoning of a human being? No, she didn't. If anything she'd be the one receiving the stoning. So what are you talking about. Please explain.
