The ACLU Is Going Down... The Fifth Column/Justin Darr

June 10, 2005 -

For years the American Civil Liberties Union has pushed its agenda as to what the Constitution “really says,” and what freedom “really means” through judicial extortion. In 1978, the Supreme Court exempted the ACLU from the “ambulance chasing” prohibitions that apply to nearly every other lawyer in the country. Over the years this has enabled the ACLU’s legions of pro bono attorneys to specifically target various organizations they feel are vulnerable to their lawsuits, dredge the ranks of the “offended” until they can find someone who will agree to let the ACLU stick their name at the top of a case, and then attempt to force a group’s acquiesce to their demands by threatening a costly legal case they usually cannot afford. Many who have dared to stand up against the ACLU might have won the battle in the court room, but lost the war as their organizations were driven into bankruptcy under crushing legal bills.

However, in the last few years the tide has started to turn. Alternate civil liberties groups, such as The American Center for Law and Justice, conservative radio commentators, and even some in the media, have drawn attention to the ACLU’s pattern of abuses, fanatic beliefs and outright hypocrisy. For the first time the ACLU is faced with legitimate public outcry over their tactics and slowly those who once would quietly give up their freedoms have been instilled with the will (and pro bono legal support) to fight. In addition, despite the efforts of obstructionist liberals in Congress, the court system is being given a much needed infusion of new judges who recognize that their interpretation of the Constitution should in some fashion be similar to those who wrote it. The ACLU understands its days of forcing Christianity, traditional values, and freedoms out of American public life are numbered.

Out of a sense of desperation and frustration toward this new threat, the ACLU has recently begun to change the target of their court cases to include the leaders of public groups and the private individuals who are leading the charge against them.

The best known case involves popular talk show host Sean Hannity. While interviewing volunteers of the Minuteman Project last April in Arizona, Hannity inadvertently crossed the US/Mexico border for a few minutes then immediately returned. It was a simple mistake and easily understood in light of the pathetic security of our borders. However the ACLU, which led the good fight by trying to obstruct the Minutemen and goad them into conflicts while enabling the rampant invasion of illegals into our nation, decided this was an offense that could not be tolerated. Apparently upset at Hannity’s drawing interest to the good work of the Minutemen, Arizona State Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, under the auspices of the ACLU, demanded Hannity’s arrest.

It is quite obvious that Sinema and the ACLU were not motivated out of a sense of respect for immigration law or fairness, but out of personal hatred toward Sean Hannity. The ACLU does not like what Hannity has to say, so what better way to silence him than by having him embarrassed and thrown in jail. But this is a larger issue than just the ACLU trying to embarrass Hannity. It is indicative of a terrifying new trend from the ACLU where they are attempting to hold individual citizens legally liable for doing nothing more than thinking they are wrong. With large organizations starting to resist them, the ACLU must now found a new defenseless target unable to afford to fight them: private citizens.

There are several other cases in recent weeks which further illustrate this trend. In Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, the ACLU has called for the arrest of school teachers and administrators because the ACLU does not feel they adequately exorcised all Judeo-Christian influences from their classrooms and cafeterias.

In San Diego the ACLU is suing five local personalities, including Rush Limbaugh sub Roger Hedgecock, because they do not like the wording they have chosen to represent the “Arguments For” section of a local ballot initiative to save the Mt. Soledad Cross. Who cares about freedom of speech and the right to voice your political opinions, the ACLU does not agree with it so it must be Constitutional to censor it. What is next? Arresting talk show hosts?

In the Keystone School District in Clarion County, Pennsylvania, even after the school board caved into the demands of the Pittsburgh ACLU, the ACLU is still suing the district because they felt that some in the community still “hoped” that there would be a prayer offered at the high school graduation. Suing a school district because some people in the community, who have no connection to the actual school district, “hope” something happens? Just what does that mean? Last time I checked “hoping” was still Constitutional. This case is nothing short of the ACLU trying to punish rank and file tax payers for not falling into line with its edicts. Just what will it take for the ACLU to feel adequately comfortable with the average citizen of Clarion County’s lack of hope at ever opposing the dictates of the ACLU? Will it be the ACLU individually suing every conservative American until we finally agree to live out our lives as Godless, Socialist drones, or would it just be Brown Shirts and Thought Police?

The ACLU is out of control. They can no longer even pretending to support freedom, the Constitution and Bill of Rights. What once may have been an organization dedicated to high ideals has now degenerated into a literal threat to our liberty. They are going beyond just trying to prosecute every Boy Scout troop and are now moving on to either sue people just like you and me, or actually have us arrested and subjected to criminal prosecution. How ironic it is that a group who thinks terrorists should not be in prison feels that those who disagree with them should. Sounds a little like the ACLU is no longer endorsing civil liberties but political prisoners.

...border officials had told him there was a three foot buffer zone beyond the fence.

Now all we need to do is mine that three foot buffer...or electrify the fence.

IMO, the sissified offal in this anti-American conspiracy belong in Gitmo for the duration of the U.S. as a country.

Think they got the gonads to go after the religious references and symbols in D.C.? I doubt it. They seem to get aroused going after the small fry.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the ACLU doesn't work pro bono. The Civil Rights Attorneys Fee Awards Act passed by Congress in the '70s allows them to sue the government and the go back to the taxpayers for payment!

The ACLU is not on the ropes, not even close! too many judges are pro-ACLU and will always side with them, no matter how dispicable they are. What we need to do is cream the Congress and Senate to demand total taxpaying defunding of the ACLU! As well as demand Christian Rights protection. If the Muslims can have laws protecting them, then the Christians shoulod also have the same level of protection.

Victories in court because they have cronies like the witch Ruth bater Ginsberg the commie bitch who was their chief council.

Commie bitch is putting it mildly.

What makes me want to puke is the DemoRAT's opposition to judicial candidates from the right because that are not in the 'mainstream!!' No wonder liberalism is a mental disorder.

Why or how the Right let this witch be confirmed is beyond comprehension. Talk about the justification for FILIBUSTER.

Please indulge me this "musing"....

There ought to be a show or magazine called "Fetter Files" or "Four Pointing Back", or something more creative.

I believe we are entitled to know the character of the people who accuse the brethren; who they've slept with, how many illegitimate children, what kind of drugs they "experimented" with in College. Their grades... their sex lives... You get the idea.

And why not? Aren't we entitled to know everything about these "public" people?

Sorry to go OFF TOPIC, but someone on WND suggested they expand the Rio Grande river to make it border the entire country, then use it instead of the Panama Canal... which Carter gave away.

Huge job... but then, so was the Railroad.

"They [the ACLU ] have had many victories in court. The most recent to have film and pictures from Abu Ghraib released."

Consider this. Why was that even a court decision????????? Shows how much decision making we have given up to the courts which are drunk with power.

Boy, I don't believe we can go that far as standard practice, we still have individuals right to privacy. I just would return any favor with utmost vigor with Constitutionally allowed free speech. If only our Conservative leaders would call a Commie a Commie and explain to the people why. What I mean mostly is to use their tactics, endless lawsuits for example in the other direction, push the limit as they do in the opposite direction.

I must be naive. Maybe we need to take another look at Right to Privacy. It seems to be unequally applied.

these people are communists, plain and simple!

They always have been. ACLU was founded by avowed communists and, like the rest of the anti-anti-Communist bunch over the years, have hornswoggled the media, academia and most American citizens into believing they represent Constitutional values.

No, I don't think your being naive, I also get so damn mad that I feel a certain viciousness at times, I even had dream of flattening Howard Dean with a one solid blow to the chin. But my point would be that nearly everyone has an incident or two in their lives that they would like to take back, that they would not want those incidents to define them as a person. The difference IMO is that ACLU wants to authorize many of those incidents as being OK , to change or deconstruct society against any notion of right and wrong. Conservatives and Christians on the other hand want them to remain "wrongs" use forgiveness and encourage the individual to move on and to become a better person. If we start attacking everyone with dirty laundry then we are really encouraging chaos and invite accusations of hypocrisy. Nobody in their nature can be perfect. I would just like to see the the same fight back towards limited Govt, Liberty and not licentiousness and the family. I would like to see our Representatives fight harder for principles if necessary using the same tactics they do. Attack racist accusations with the same, attack elimination of religion with freedom of religion. Answer every call!

[I even had a dream of

Now... in the ACLU's world, Thought Police would make this a crime.

Your point is instructive to me. Unfortunately, we know who the "author or confusion" is and he is working overtime. I believe the intent of Right to Privacey is addressed to the government. We citizens expose each other's dirty laundry in the name of information, entertainment, exhibition and extortion all the time.

Shame can be a great teacher. I agree that we should not keep a record of wrongs. But the world template is already set.

This may sound random, but my Mother believed that if a child is willing to misbehave in public, the child must be prepared to be chastised in public.

The ACLU is misbehaving "in public".

Yes, the aclu IS going down. The Word has already been put to God about it, I would like to ask you all, Christian as well as other positive faiths, to stand in agreement with me. You can bet your bottom dollar that results are in the making, because the Holy Bible says that our Lord is a "Yes and Amen" (so be it) God, and I although I don't take ever scripture literally, I do take that part literally.

Let's say the following aloud, each of us, sitting at our computers, because "Life and death are in the power of the tongue.":

"Father, before I make this important request, Your Word states that if we desire our request to be met, we must not hold a grudge against anyone for anything. So even though I may not necessarily feel like it, I state here and now, in sincere faith, that I forgive everyone for everything, including myself. Now. As You know, there has been a fungus in our nation, known as the aclu. Lots of good people have been worried about it. But I say as of this moment, that it will be no more. As Your offspring, we are rising up in faith to You, for a renewed strengthening and growth of our country's roots. I don't know how You're going to do it, Lord, but You will work things out to our greatest advantage, in the most positive, simple, and surprising way. We stand before you without hatred in our hearts, and with a love for You and our country, as we calmly but firmly accept the aclu for what it is: a disease that must be halted. Now that we've completely accepted this fact, under the right emotional conditions, we now let go of this issue and transfer it to You, and give You some elbow room to do Your work. We will not worry, but will only trust, because worry = doubt = fear, which causes technical difficulties that hinder Your efforts. We will therefore think of, and picture in our minds, this faithful statement, as if it has already come to pass. We will be "thinking from the end".

"In our hearts, we know that Your will is no different than the good and loving will of any parent who would desire the very best for their children, in every area of life. All we have to do is read Your positive promises throughout the Holy Bible, to know this. So we claim in confidence, Father, that our request is now met, in advance, with a resounding "Yes!" and "Amen." The aclu is finished. It is no more. We know that You will not make us not ashamed in front of others, Lord. You are the most powerful, and we know you will prove it. We stand on this statement for as long as we have to, until it comes to pass. We will not faint or lose confidence. We now expect it, and reach out and take it in faith, because Your Word says we can have anything we ask, and we take that part literally, as well. It has been proven throughout the ages, that You watch out for and take good care of Your family, when they stand fervently in their faith, and can see it in their mind's eye as already done. Our faith, joined in agreement in this forum, takes claim to the manifestation that the aclu is no more. In the name of Christ Jesus, Amen. So be it, so it is. Thank You, God, thank You Jesus, thank You Holy Spirit, and thank you, guardian angels. I love you."

This thread has a lot of info on stopping the ACLU from being awarded taxpayer funds:

Public Expression of Religion Act of 2005 (FREEPERS stop taxpayer funding of ACLU)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1413875/posts

Our job now is to contact our representatives to support the PERA bill, and to spread awareness of this bill.

The phrase and the notion of 'SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE is a 'Myth' of garangtun proportion. I have spent about 1,000 man-hours of research that COMPLETELY dispels the very idea. If anyone would like a copy, contact me at EARN4462@aol.com

Did you know that the ACLU receives taxpayer funds?

Did you know the ACLU is supporting a lawsuit (which they have managed to drag into a fifth year) brought by a member of NAMBLA - short for North American Man-Boy Love Association. NAMBLA teaches child molesters how to seduce young children, how to avoid detection, how to defend against charges, and lists places to find 'easy' targets. TALK ABOUT REPULSIVE! Yet, the ACLU operates with impunity with the tacit approval of the liberals. How disgusting.

They were called 'the most evil organization' in the US by someone of character (I forget - may Zell Miller). I wholly agree with that, and would do any volunteer work in an effort to bring them to their knees.
