A robbery attempt by a masked man and a gunshot wound to the leg didn't stop a pizza delivery man from making his four scheduled stops.
Thomas Stefanelli, 37, said dedication to his job at Hungry Howie's Pizza kept him on the job after a struggle with a robber Saturday night left him bleeding from a bullet hole in his left thigh.
Stefanelli arrived at a home only to realize it was vacant, police said. The masked man approached Stefanelli, pointed a gun and demanded money.
Stefanelli said he fought with the man, and two shots were fired. One hit Stefanelli, but he did not immediately notice the wound.
Stefanelli said another man approached and began yelling, and the two ran into a nearby house.
"They figured they were going to make an easy mark by robbing a pizza delivery person," said police spokesman Joe Durkin.
Stefanelli finally noticed his wound. His cell phone wasn't working, so he drove to his next delivery address, dropped off the pie and called his boss to ask him to call the police.
Stefanelli went on to make three more deliveries.
He was treated and released from St. Joseph's Hospital, where an X-ray showed no serious damage. Police recovered the bullet from Stefanelli's back pocket.

That's dedication!
I'm telling ya. This guy should be doing something other than delivering pizzas.
Howie better give him a raise!
I want to hire this guy - Can't get that kind of dedication out of just anybody these days!
Obviously this pizza man is in it for more than dough.
Got to love that Thick Crust!
I hope he got some generous tips.
"Its only a flesh wound!!"
Howie's pizza is pretty good, too.
".....and you don't mess 'round with Slim!"
still got me other leg.
I'll bite your leg off, ye coward!
Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor assaults, nor bullet wounds... will keep him from his appointed rounds.
"Semper Pie""
He must have been delivering to Michael Moore who said getting his pizzas was a matter of life or death.
Some people, seriously! I knew a woman that got beat but she managed to fight off a rapist in on the way to work (she lived near work i guess, and the would be rapist must have gotten the crap kicked out of him because she said she fought him good), and believe it or not, bruises and all, she stayed at work all day!!!! I would have gone home and called it a day.
I know this doesn't qualify for your Armed Citizen ping list since he wasn't packing, but I thought you might get a kick out of this.
I hope he doesn't get fired for fighting off his attackers. A lot of companies would rather employees allow themselves to be killed by criminals rather than the employees fight back and live -- they might hurt the criminal who would sue and a jury of welfare queens would then award the criminal a million dollars. It is so much cheaper to wash off the blood and pay for a new help wanted ad. The whole system from the courts to many employers is often geared to rewarding criminals.
