"We're exploring all alternatives as to how best to do the main objective, which is to protect America,"

Does this sentence sound like he said he's closing Gitmo, Fool?

Exactly....also see this:

http://www.armytimes.com/story.php?f=1-292925-902104.php

White House: Gitmo prison could close

Associated Press

The White House on Wednesday left open the possibility that the U.S. prison camp at Guantanamo Bay Naval Station, Cuba, could be shuttered after criticism of the facility that has led former President Jimmy Carter and others to call for its closure.

When asked if President Bush would shut down the detention center, White House press secretary Scott McClellan responded that “we’re always looking at all alternatives when it comes to dealing with these detainees.”

They didn't say it, but AP calls it "leaving open the possibilty."

There's also the possibility that they could shoot everyone of them there and feed them to the sharks, which would lead to teh closing of Gitmo...if they are "looking at all alternatives when it comes to dealing with these detainees..."

You're calling the president a fool because the AP put words in his mouth?

Would you allow the AP's words to stand, or issue an immediate press release to correct the story? If the AP is putting words in Bush's mouth it is because he lets them.

Closing Gitmo is very very dumb. Right now it represents one of the best interrogation tools we have. Capture a bad guy in the field and start asking questions. When refuses to answer say "If you don't answer truthfully we'll send you Gitmo and no one will ever hear from you again" Most will talk without any more coercion.

Well DUH! Bush would be open to tearing down the camp if all of them were promptly executed!

That's a no brainer.

There are 540 people being held at Gitmo. Long term what are the plans? How long to they plan to hold them? Can they ever let them go? Will we keep them there until they die?

I think we should just close the place down, and drop them all off a mile from home.

FROM 5,280 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL!!!!!

We can even strap some sensors on them and call it science.

If all he ever did was correct the media, he'd have little time for anything else.

I watched the interview that President Bush had with Neil Cavota on Fox News and he said that 'all options are open' which he says about everything he doesn't feel is anyone's business about what he is thinking....ie: someone asked him about pulling the troops out of Iraq one day and he said:'we are open to all options'

He NEVER said that Carter had anything to do with this...another media hipe again.

Go to FoxNews.com and the interview is there somewhere I'm sure.

LOL! The responses on this thread are priceless! Bush simply gave a non-answer, rather than get into a media pissing contest with Jimmy Carter.

The usual suspects, however, choose to believe the worst. Perhaps they receive sexual gratification from it.

I'm beginning to really loose faith in Dubya.

"Perception is reality. "

Your perception is reality?! . . . I don't think so.

The President stated his position clearly and precisely. That fact that you have chosen to accept AP's agenda-driven 'spin' of the President's position says more about your 'perceptual predispositions' that it does 'reality'!!
