It's strictly new mask, same old hustle in Hoboken, New Jersey as the latest "reform" mayor dishes the pork up to the Democratic machine statewide (not to mention other states).

From what I know about Hoboken, isn't the political class dominated by long-time resident holdovers from its blue collar days, despite the fact that most of the residents are now transient yuppies?
BTW: Hoboken was once the only Republican town in Hudson County, until the 1940s. Ask Gordon Liddy, who was born there.

No it's a very strange mix of politics in Hoboken these days, more of the formerly transient yuppies (the liberal ones) are choosing to stay in Hoboken and raise families.
Many are trying to be active in Politics.
Ironically the base of people working for Republican mayoral candidate Carol Marsh are all crunchy tree hugging humanist feminist libs.
Politics are quite nonsensical in this town.
Been here a decade, can't wait to move.
I actually like a lot of the long time residents more than my yuppie brethren.
At least theyre down to earth.

I love 'Boken myself. I can still light up a stogie on Washington Avenue when I visited friends there, something I couldn't do in Brooklyn.
I always tell folks that if they want to see what Hoboken was like pre-gentrification, they should hop on the bus (and now the light rail) down to Bayonne. My mother, btw, happens to be from the sh-thole town that lies between Hoboken and Bayonne. ;-)
