1953: MI's worst tornado killed 116 (the last national occurance of a tornado with fatalities exceeding 99) in Flint.

1960: Without doubt, getting hit by one of these bad boys definitely had to hurt (and probably would've left a mark). Hail up to the size of hens eggs fell for about 45 minutes in Hooker, OK. In addition, 4" of rain fell during the time. Most astonishingly, widespread and extensive crop and property damage was reported.

1966: 125mph winds attributable to hurricane Alma were observed at Dry Tortugas. A pressure of 28.65" was also observed. The hurricane was forecasted to make landfall tomorrow.

1977: A nooner hailstorm whipped through SE WI. 4" of marble sized hail piled up on the level near Lyons, water runoff drifted it to 18". Snowplows were called into service to clear the roads.

1997: Lighting hurt 2 seach/rescue volunteers aiding a skier atop Peak 10 at Breckenridge, CO ski area. The bolt initially took out the rescuer's snowmobile and then the rescuer. 1/4 mile away, a second rescuer was injured when the ground current from the strike ran up his ski poles.

Right, but there's a vast difference between global warming and your lawn becoming hot. Although, maybe there is a corollary here that was overlooked when the Koyoto Accords were drawn up and they're barkin' up the wrong tree entirely. Global warming is caused by the aggregate increased temps of mowed lawns. I think I need a grant.

But why was the lawn hot after you mowed it. June or not, that's still weird.

I dunno. My 'lawn' is desert landscaped meaning it has no grass to mow. But when I was out spraying weeds the other day, it was darned hot.

I think my lawn looks good but I would never consider it to be HOT.  But, hey, who am I to judge?

The global warming in the Chicago area was at 95 south of the city an hour. It was hot. I stayed in. The heat hurt my skin and my eyes. We still don't have the kid's pool set up yet. They are hot. They are in the house. The sun came up again this morn. It was a hot sun. Already mid 70s. Will close windows again. I hate being in hot cars. The cars get hot. The kids get cranky. I need to shop but with all this global warning...what to do. Will go fill all the bird baths with water so the birds have water during this global warning now.
