Abercrombie and Fitch and its subsidiary Hollister have shown an unusual degree of anatagonism to the name of Christ and an unusual display of wickedness in their promotions.
In protest, we will not allow articles of clothing displaying their logos to we worn, carried or displayed. (even if covered or masked in some way)

If the University chooses to have a dress code, I would stand behind them 100%. But to ban a particular brand because you disagree with their advertising strategies, is just ridiculous. Did they ban Benetton when they used a photograph of Pres Reagan with a lesion on his face? How about Calvin Klein, they've shown plenty of skin over the years. Or maybe Hanes?
This is one of those over-the-top, ill-conceived decisions that makes me cringe.
It's not important enough to me to argue over it. Keep in mind too that Paul was addressing the Corinthians, so some things like the female veil while praying were most likely rules directed specifically to that city because of how prostitutes dressed in that city. According to the studies I read, churches in other cities didn't have the same standards of dress.
Yes, and with clear blue eyes. Oh, and don't forget the radiance around his head!
These are the rules about womens' pants, from the BJU website:
Pants:
Loose-fitting pants may be worn between women's residence halls, for athletic events, and to homes in the area.
Loose-fitting jeans may be worn between women's residence halls and when participating in activities where the durability of the fabric is important, such as skiing or ice-skating.
You'd have to ask BJU that one. A generic answer would be the same reason businesses have dress codes.
The purpose of the dress code is to provide an outward representation of an inner belief system. Clothing is a language and they want the language of the clothing to correspond to the language of the school's doctrine so as not to seem hypocritical or paradoxical.
Whoah. Source, please?
It's actually very probable Bob Jones would not approve of that.
If BJU bans clothes from every company that employs trashy advertising, they might end up having to either go nude or sew their own clothes. Most clothing companies play the game of being trendy and catering to the youth market, and that means sexualizing their ads and using edgy themes like lesbianism and homosexuality.
I suspect the purpose is to promote an image of modesty and chastity, which is pretty much the same rationale behind female Islamic dress.
You can't equate the two -- different cultures entirely.
I think I'll go down to A&F and buy something, just to give the middle finger to the hicks at Bob Jones.
One of the Liz Clairborne buyers grew up across the street. She attends mass every Sunday.
But the reasons for the dress code are the same.
Your moral relativism is showing. Wearing Conservative skirts and pants is the same as a Burka?? What a load. The fact is A&F has been pro-homosexual and anti-Christian for a while. Something you should relate to quite easily.
Pray for W and Our Troops
ROFL....I had that thought, too.
Over most of the doors to classrooms, offices, dining hall and some dorms are sayings of Dr. Bob Sr. My favorite still is "Do Right! Do right if the stars fall--Just do right!"
BJU takes not one thin dime of America's tax dollars. They do NOT take students who are depended on SSI as their only income and they do not take students on the GI Bill. They are independent and self sufficient. So laugh all you want, but at least none of your money is going to fund what you see as foolishness. Name me ONE other university that can make that claim.
All the junk that goes on at state colleges and private colleges makes me SICK! There are no anti-Bush protests, anti-war, pro-life rallies at Bob Jones. They openly pray for our leaders and pray for those who oppose them.
So snicker at good decent people trying to do the right thing, post your silly bourka pictures and reject one of the most decent places on this earth.
BJU kids will get laughed at no matter what they wear.
That's not very charitable of you. Hardly a "Christian" reaction.
