Accuracy in Media (AIM) said today that revelations that former FBI official Mark Felt himself had other sources in the Watergate scandal mean that the real identity of Deep Throat has not been fully disclosed.
AIM editor Cliff Kincaid said that a Brendan Lyons story in The Albany Times Union (N.Y), also published on the front page of today's Washington Times, identifies Felt as only one of several FBI officials who fed information to The Washington Post during the scandal that brought down President Nixon.
"Felt's role as Deep Throat diminishes day by day," said Kincaid. "It seems clear he has been singled out because he had a stroke and has dementia and can't speak for himself. The complete story has not been told."
Kincaid, who has interviewed several Watergate experts who cast doubt on the "Mark Felt is Deep Throat" theory, says the new revelations don't explain everything either.
"Felt and his FBI friends didn't have access to White House information about 'erasures' on the Nixon tapes," noted Kincaid. "That means Deep Throat had to be connected to a top White House official. That person's identity is still being concealed."

hmmmmm.
I'm betting it circles back to Woodward and Bernstein in the end.
Either that, or Dan Rather.
What an unfortunate article title. Eww.
End of story.
A few of us have been discussing this very thing here on FR.....there had to be others.
No...these people won't come out....I'm afraid.
Something tells me that after the publishers conclude that Felt is no longer all there, her greed will remain unsated.
I'm Spartacus!
I always believed that DT was a number of people, some with greater access than others.
Given that the reason for Felt to come forward was money, I can definitely see a credibility problem.
Book Bait.
Felt's partner was known as "Deep Anus", so he must have been a DemonRAT.
What do the erasures mean?? Do we KNOW what was said? Are we taking someone's word on what might have been on the tapes. I have a lot of tapes that have erasures and gaps.
Anyone who think Felt acted alone and has been outed now for money must wait for other shoes to drop. Agnew wasn't ousted first by accident. The coverup continues.
Jim, you might want to take a look at this.
Felt could be a composite in this sense, he gathered the info from an array of suppliers and was the only person Woodward met. There ARE those pesky Hoover files that Felt could have had access to. There is no telling what was known...Felt may even have known what happened to Elvis, Marilyn and JFK (only HALF joking)!
My basic take, which formed as soon as I read Woodward's own 5 page account in the WaPo on the morning after, is that Woodward was recruited by Felt as an asset for unknown purposes in 1970 - this is blatantly clear (to me).
Felt used Woodward to take down Agnew, then ran him like an agent for over a year, trusting in Woodward's lust for fame and overestimation of his own abilities to cover his tracks.
What the game was, I have no idea, except that I think the flood of posters who see it as a "Donkey vs. Elephant" cartoon are wrong.
After all, it was less than ten years since the head Donkey took two in the hat in Dallas, and I think Felt's boss was in that up to his eyeballs.
I would LOVE to know what Felt's job in the Bureau was in 1963, and where he was on November 22.
