Kerry allows Navy release of military, medical records (Navy provided them to Boston Globe)
boston Globe ^ | June 7, 2005 | Michael Kranish

Senator John F. Kerry, ending at least two years of refusal, has waived privacy restrictions and authorized the release of his full military and medical records.

The records, which the Navy Personnel Command provided to the Globe, are mostly a duplication of what Kerry released during his 2004 campaign for president, including numerous commendations from commanding officers who later criticized Kerry's Vietnam service.

The lack of any substantive new material about Kerry's military career in the documents raises the question of why Kerry refused for so long to waive privacy restrictions.

"Something doesn't sound right. I don't think you can sign a 180 and limit who gets access to your records. Tonk, am I right on this?"

It's all BS!

'one of the finest young officers with whom I have served;" is ''the acknowledged leader of his peer group;" and is ''highly recommended for promotion."
You're right on ... standard boiler-plate on all OER's (Officer Efficiency Report)

The wording gets changed with different services, but like you said standard boilerplate on all ER's. The voices of experience speak.

What exactly does an "undeleted" copy mean ??

It means "altered."

The records, which the Navy Personnel Command provided to the Globe, are mostly a duplication of what Kerry released during his 2004 campaign for president, including numerous commendations from commanding officers who later criticized Kerry's Vietnam service.

And including the numerous discrepancies and unresolved issues that were never explained by Kerry the first time around--for instance:

Forging a Paper Hero: The Mystery of Kerry’s Medals

. . .the paperwork for Kerry’s Silver Star contains puzzling discrepancies. According to the original Silver Star citation bearing Admiral Zumwalt’s signature, “Lieutenant (junior grade) KERRY leaped ashore, pursued the man behind a hootch and killed him”. The original citation was later revised twice, and the two revisions omit any mention of Kerry shooting the man behind the hootch. The third version of the citation bears the signature of Reagan administration Secretary of the Navy John Lehman, who states, “It is a total mystery to me. I never saw it. I never signed it. I never approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me.”

Once again, Kerry is daodging, and the Globe is covering.

The complete set of records for Navy Officers discharged before 1994 are held at the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) in St. Louis. The Navy would have only a partial set in its files. The Globe claims only the Navy release, not the NPRC.

Also, one would need to see this Form 180 to see what records were not to be included, as there is a section in the form for those exclusions. The Globe is coy in not revealing the actual form 180 and the details on it.

Still to be explained are Kerry's wilderness years, 1970-72 and 1974-78, where there seems to be no paper trail of what he did or his points/credit earned. There is also a missing DD 214 which is probably the most important document for a serviceman's records.

Looks like the Globe took a lesson from the Dan Rather School of Obfuscation and Denial.

The ONLY way to obtain a true and complete version of the file is to have Senator Kerry sign a release and an SF180 allowing the bearer of the SF180 to obtain any and all of his Military Service Records from the National Personnel Records Center, a branch of the National Archives. The NPRC is the only Government organization that has and can release a copy of his complete personnel file.

You know what I like?

I like that fact that I have recognized Kerry as a piece of human waste for twenty years at least, and it took the rest of the country, millions of you, to see what I have been talking about all this time.

This 180 release is BS. If Kerry's DD 214 says that he was HD in the late 70's then we can all safely rest assured that there has been a clean up on this section eight's aisle.

MEET THE DEPRESSED, Jan. 30, 2005

MR. RUSSERT: Many people who've been criticizing you have said: Senator, if you would just do one thing and that is sign Form 180, which would allow historians and journalists complete access to all your military records. Thus far, you have gotten the records, released them through your campaign. They say you should not be the filter. Sign Form 180 and let the historians...

SEN. KERRY: I'd be happy to put the records out. We put all the records out that I had been sent by the military. Then at the last moment, they sent some more stuff, which had some things that weren't even relevant to the record. So when we get--I'm going to sit down with them and make sure that they are clear and I am clear as to what is in the record and what isn't in the record and we'll put it out. I have no problem with that.

MR. RUSSERT: Would you sign Form 180?

SEN. KERRY: But everything, Tim...

MR. RUSSERT: Would you sign Form 180?

SEN. KERRY: Yes, I will. But everything that we put in it, Tim--everything we put in--I mean, everything that was out was a full documentation of all of the medical records, all of the fitness reports. And I'd call on those who have challenged me, let's see their records. I want to see the records of each of those people who have put up a challenge, because some of them have some serious questions in them, and it hasn't been appropriate...

MR. RUSSERT: So they should sign Form 180s for themselves as well?

SEN. KERRY: You bet.

Why NOW? Well, this dunderhead hasn't been in the spotlight for a while. Like the Sink Emperor, these enormous egos crave the adulation of the media, crowds, seeing their names in lights, in the newspapers, talked about on newsblogs, being the subject of the evening gossip on TV....

He wants his ego stroked... this could have been done before the election, but there wasn't time to get rid of the offending documents... someone is walking around a richer man...

Apparently he did sign the 180 -- but seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if some mole hadn't gotten in there and removed some incriminating ones, such as his original suspected dishonorable or at least general discharge.

We're talking the Boston Globe here. You don't actually think they're going to print the bad stuff, do you? Think about it. Kerry is a Senator for what state? Hmmm? Boston Globe is also a far left wing fish wrap.

We want ALL the records public. The Boston Globe should print them ALL.

We called for Kerry to execute a form which would permit anyone to examine his full and unexpulgated military records at the Navy Department and the National Personnel Records Center. Instead he executed a form permitting his hometown paper to obtain the records currently at the Navy Department.

Kerry will never release ALL his records to the public. It'll damn his career. He's no hero, and he'll never allow the Navy to prove it. Never.
Thank God for the Swift Boat Vets, though. They got the real truth out before any serious damage was done.

When it comes to Hillary, we need the Universal Health Care Package she devised released to the public. She has to volunteer it, because a judge dictated those records be hidden, even though at the time she was not elected to any position by the American people - yet they paid for it.

"But everything that we put in it, Tim--everything we put in"

Good catch!

This is one time he actually told the truth.

Someone should check those records against the typewriters of the time and against MSWord font.

Not to mention what was taken OUT.
